Good Multiplayer Arcade Games-

Post by Battlesmurf »

Alright fellas/lady. I'm fishing for harnesses for my 4p Sega Swing- but the cab is functional. Now I'm just trying to snag games for it. What are some good 3 player and 4 player games that I can use? I have a list here of the stuff that I have. As you can see- I'm heavy on the brawlers. I love them- but as far as longevity goes- they're not the best for that. Anybody have any suggestions?

So far I have:
Aliens VS Predator (3p)
Captain America and the Avengers 4p
Dessert Assault 4p
NBA Jam TE (en route)
Night Slashers (3p)
Numan Athletics
Simpsons 4p
Spiderman 4p
Sunset Riders 4P
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4p
TMNT Turtles in Time

And trying to strike a deal over Blitz 2000, NBA Max Hang Time right now.
My trade/wanted list

Of course, that's just an opinion.

Irem's Ninja Baseball Batman PCB circa 1993 is another one of those cool Irem M-92 based PCB (the basis for powering up it's earlier "In the Hunt" PCB title release). NBB is a very colorful brawler with support up to four players. Aim for the orginal Japanese version if you can, it's the definitive version to own/play. Plan on spending anywhere from $100.00 to $150.00 USD for such a barebones NBB PCB is the going rate from the Japanese PCB shops these days. In reality, a NBB PCB is a two-layered PCB setup...very hefty but well worth every penny/yen spent to acquire one. ^_~

Seriously, there's some good suggestions here. I would almost be a sardonic twit and tweek your nose about EAR being only 2-player, but it's *so* stinking good, all I did was nod when I read it.

For my additions: how about the two separate Dungeons and Dragons games from Capcom?

Moo Mesa (not Mecca or whatever), and I still kick myself for not putting a coin into a machine when I saw one.

Or stealing it right then and there...

Desert Assault 4p - isn't that the Sega top-down game? Looks decent AFAIR.

It's Data East, actually, and it's cursed-of-God lousy. It's a hyper-unfair quarter muncher in the realm of Ninja Combat. It was brought out to capitalize on the Desert Storm war at the time, and it sure felt like garbage profiteering, which it most assuredly was. Just a lousy, lousy game.

Sorry, it should be 3 player though. Taito dropped the ball on that one.

Don't forget them boys at IGS. They still make games and most of their line up was made after 98 so everything is more recent. They are very talented developers and their games look great but they make some common since error's that any Japanese developer wouldn't(Their Tai).

Knights Of Valor(Series)(4Ply)
Oreintal Lengend's(Series)(4PLY)

A quick MAME check shows I was thinking of Desert Breaker, one of the FD1094 encrypted 68K games. Dun think it's four-player, but it should be two player. I wasn't very good at it, but I don't recall it being too bad. (Edit: After a short fresh play...)

Of course that's a relative thing when that other game is mentioned. At least it doesn't seem to have buggy emulation. Hooray for American-hating fighters dropping their Coca Cola stashes when killed!

besides Sunset Riders, the only multiplayer arcade games I care about are:
D&D Tower of Doom
D&D Shadow of Mystara
and Daytona USA
