I've been told that cave used hardware based after PGM hardware for some of their games.
Is this true and if so what ones?
CAVE = PGM??

CAVE = PGM??
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Re: CAVE = PGM??
I'm considering only the arcade games here.
Ketsui - Kizuna Jigoku Tachi
Espgaluda
Note: These aren't PGM carts, but integrated PCBs implementing the PGM hardware. The only "Cave" game on PGM cart is Dodompachi II: Bee Storm (which actually wasn't developed by Cave).
Everything after Mushihimesama (to date) uses custom hardware based around Hitachi SH-3. Everything prior to Dodonpachi Dai Ou Jo used 1st gen hardware (custom; based around a Motorola M68000), except for Progear no Arashi (Capcom CPS2) and Steep Slope Sliders (Sega ST-V).

Re: CAVE = PGM??
CAVE got access to the PGM hardware in exchange for licensing their franchise to PGM. We all know what they did with it...Strider77 wrote:I've been told that cave used hardware based after PGM hardware for some of their games.
The two Dai-Ou-Jou versions both use a modified PGM BIOS but in the later boards the BIOS chip is not present. It might be contained inside the program image but it's hard to know since it's encrypted.

edit: changed to "encrypted"
