SPI Stereo Connector Part #
Anyone know the actual part number for the stereo connector for the SPI board or where I can buy one? I called up Seibu and the support guy there actually doesn't know (he didn't even have manuals on hand)!

Do you know if the output is amplified like the JAMMA out? I'm considering making some kind of stereo cable for my Raiden Fighters 2 board as well.
I think some kind of internal computer cable might work. Like an analogue audio cable from CD-Drive -> soundcard.
Edit: Looked in the manual for RF2. The pinout is as follows
| SPEAKER LEFT (+) | SPEAKER LEFT (-) | SPEAKER RIGHT (-) | SPEAKER RIGHT (+)|
This would suggest that the signal is indeed amplified.
You can find the manual here: http://www.crazykong.com/manuals/Raiden ... s2.man.pdf

Thanks for the input. I have all of the manuals so I know the pinout, I simply want the connector as I don't want to solder directly to the board.emphatic wrote:Do you know if the output is amplified like the JAMMA out? Seibu said that it is amplified but that the left and right channels are exactly the same, not sure how reliable this guy is since for the last decade they only really deal in porn games and hard to believe they don't have copies of support manuals around.

I'll let you know if I found something that fits and am quitly hoping you'll update this thread if you do.

It looks like this:D wrote:yes, works like a charm although the pinout might be different from a regular soundcard - cd drive, dunno!analogue audio cable from CD-Drive -> soundcard.

If it's this type it's definitely not JST (neither NH nor any other series). It looks similar to Molex KK .100" (1, 2) but it's not that either, not to mention that you wouldn't expect a Molex on a Japanese board. I clearly remember that I had identified it as a Hirose connector but it was several years ago and now I can't find that info anymore. On the Hirose page there's nothing like that now (the connector falls in the 2.5 ~ 2.54mm pitch range) but then again it may have been discontinued (the popular Hirose CR7 Jamma connector is no longer in their product line either).
Of course if you're not anal about originality you could just replace the header with the Molex shown above or a JST NH (which I'm sure are perfect drop-in replacements) or even try a ghetto solution like the ones suggested by other members if you're not good at desoldering/replacing parts.

Sad but true. That's why I almost prefer running ESPGALUDA from my PS2 instead of my PCB...D wrote:please do not tell me the boards are mono.

Thanks for the tip. Will look into what the Akiba connector junkyards have for Hirose connectors then.MKL wrote:http://www.pici.se/pictures/jNYsqVajX.jpg

Seibu supplied them with new kits is what they told me. PGM hardware is mono, very very sad....D wrote:Why are cables as such never supplied with pcb's? Or are they?
Say you splashed out 1000's for the original RF2 in 1997, then Seibu just make you go fuck yourself if you wanted stereo? How is this done with modern cave shmups? do they have stereo cables? please do not tell me the boards are mono.

I was making stereo connectors for my SPI boards and discovered that SEIBU changed the stereo connector between boards.
There is true stereo you have to change a jumper and use both pot's to adjust the volume.
On my RF2 I got the official connector with the motherboard but this connector does NOT fit on my RF1 or RFJET

No, it's not the factory spec. However the pitch is the same and fits like a glove with slight modification. Also it is a little easier to source. The 2.54mm pitch connectors mentioned by several posters above will also work.Shou wrote:Are you sure it's the NH series? Factory spec would be HRS DF1 for the two late revision motherboards (ver. SXX2D narrow and wide, white header).
DF1-4S-2.5C for the connector
DF1-2428SC for the contacts (100pcs)
The earlier SXX2C versions (more common) use an unmarked header (orange) which is all but identical, save for the two notches on the DF1. I don't know the exact model for that one, nor have I test fitted the DF1 with it.
Best of luck in your endeavor.

Great topic,
I measured with my oscilloscope and the signals are indeed different when correctly jumpered.
But how do I connect the signals to my Egret 2 cabs? MVS and F3 works like a charme. But I don't know if the Egret 2 need amplified or non amplified signals. Has someone a pinout of the Egret 2 stereo headers?
Best regards,
Timm

The future is 2D
I think that EGRET II wants amplified signals on the "P"-connector (next to the JAMMA harness).
I've put a PC 2.1 subwoofer in my EGRET II, and the outputs for the stereo speakers I've connected into the "P"-connector without any problems.
