How is it possible? For both my Mega Drive and Turbo Duo (modded) they have SCART connections or the greatly inferior composite. My problem is, my monitor will only take s-video.
All the SCART -> S-video converters seem to only work on PAL systems so I'm not really sure what options I have.
If someone could reccomend an SCART viable NTSC monitor or converting method it would be great!
SCART on a NTSC Tv
any sort of 'conversion' would be no better than using the native s-video of the console (and I think you are referring to RGB using a SCART connector)
but this can be done, if you are crazy enough:

The problem with that option is that I've had no luck searching for a Mega Drive/Genesis S-video cable. Apparently it's very rare? And for the Turbo duo, it would require another mod of the system for S-video.antron wrote:any sort of 'conversion' would be no better than using the native s-video of the console (and I think you are referring to RGB using a SCART connector)
my bad, those don't have s-video (no seperate chroma/luma)CFO wrote:The problem with that option is that I've had no luck searching for a Mega Drive/Genesis S-video cable. Apparently it's very rare? and the duo doesn't even have rgb lines, so if you have a duo scart cable, it is actually only using the composite video signal.
Sorted it out, anyone curious about this conversion pick up one of these.

They're the best RGB to S-video encoders around. Just remember this unit takes Jp21 connector which may look the same as scart, but it has a different pinout. However, its easy to rewire the cable.CFO wrote:Sorted it out, anyone curious about this conversion pick up one of these.

If you're able to buy one off one those online japanese stores, buy 2 so I can get one. I've been looking for one for long time

I'm curious about this, how would I have to rewire it? I don't have a soldering iron / don't know how. If I ordered you one of these units could I send my cables to you to rewire? Or would it be xav-2s that needed rewiring? Either way, I don't mind picking up an extra unit.rolins wrote: Just remember this unit takes Jp21 connector which may look the same as scart, but it has a different pinout. Is there anywhere to get these cables? Or anyone who offers services to do mods like this? I assume this is the page http://www.gamesx.com/avpinouts/rgb21pinj.htmFudoh wrote:Best thing is to use an adapter cable with a Scart connector on the side and a socket on the other side. I don't understand what to rewire compared to the original SCART

Yup, GameSX has the audio L/R pins in reverse, it should be pin1 for Left audio and pin5 for Right audio.Fudoh wrote:Best thing is to use an adapter cable with a Scart connector on the side and a socket on the other side. I probably could make the scart -> Jp21 cable for you, problem is I don't have any Jp21 cables to test it out when I'm finish. I mean I modified my XRGB-2 to accept scart only, so wouldn't have to deal with Jp21 cables. You could also check ebay and search with the keyword "XRGB". There's usually a seller with XRGB-2 scart adapters for $25.CFO wrote: Is there anywhere to get these cables? Or anyone who offers services to do mods like this?
