Thanks for posting these pics! Never saw a Sega Swing in the wild. Not to mention the huge darius cabs.

I love these hole-in-the-wall style japanese arcades over the formal game centers.

just wondered if you could let me know where abouts this arcade is? stayed in shinjuku for 11 days on holiday last year and only found one arcade with DFK and another with no shooters, shame we missed out on this place.

These huge Darius cabinets look awesome, too.

Thanks very much, Ken!

Well a lot of people probably assume that it's near Club SEGA in Shinjuku, but it's actually on the other side of the station. On the end of the long street that goes towards the Epson logo, you have a McDonalds on the corner on the right side of the street. Walk past there and you will see the Mikado arcade also on a corner, across the big hotel.

It's a really nice place, I stayed in Shinjuku in November and whenever I had time free in the evening I'd pop down. Club SEGA was closer, but I wasn't a fan.

I popped into a lot of arcades and Mikado was probably the one I liked the most. I only wish they had something by Cave in there I’d played before so I didn’t look so incompetent... Got the Death Smiles and DFK 1cc's there, but that's hardly an amazing achievement. :)

I just got back from Japan at the end of December and this was my favorite arcade in Shinjuku, hands down. The highlights of this place for me was watching a guy absolutely destroy both loops of gradius, the head-to-head ST cabs (they were at HEY too, but whatever), and a cute chick with glasses do surprisingly well on Ketsui.

The only downside(upside?) is going through kabuki-cho, I got harassed by middle age hookers half the time walking to the place.

Whoa, both big Darius cabs, and a line of Gradius games to boot (I also see Salamander, perhaps Salamander 2 was next to it), now that's an arcade I could live at. :D

I'd still die a happy man. ;)

Now if I lived next door to it, and made trips there everyday, might live longer. Now if I would ever have these games in my home, there'd be no smoking by them or in my house (as it is now).

If your genes are strong, smoking won't keep you from having a long life. My grandpa was 95yo when he died and it wasn't because he smoke like a factory.

Some are better than others. MIkado Shinjuku wasn't that bad to be honest. Shibuya Kaikan: bad... the air is stale as well. Smells like a piece of rotten ass.
