You rarely get your first choice for these things. Even kindgrind seems to be the choice of many before me on many things when I register...

...but when I signed up on xbla 10 years ago I could get it =)

I got my first choice for XBL name because it's a character from a novel I wrote.

I signed up for XBL on day 1 back in 2002, so I was able to get mine with no problem. I suspect I probably wouldn't now though.

Edit: Oops, that would be 2002, not 2003.

I like my username. It works pretty much anywhere, especially XBL. If you google it, almost everything that comes up has to do with me.

Anyone who likes Thunder Force V could have used it, so it's not that surprising. Why don't you try Armament Armed Arm, or Barbaric Berserk Beast? :)

For some reason, "gs68" was already taken--maybe I took it by accident while making one of my other hotmail accounts?

At any rate, I ended up taking up my new online handle as my gamertag: Ray Ayanami.

Time to get lots of shit from Eva haters! Given how immature most XBL'ers are, I wouldn't be surprised if I got one shit-talking about my nick every, I dunno, 3 out of every 4 opponents.

Heh, do you remember the old ads for Rayman 2, which featured a fat bald guy named "Ray?" You should use him as your icon - and maybe even model your Avatar after him.

/Agreed

I do agree with the op though, I would hate it if my name was taken somewhere, but instead of numbers I would probably make a new handle.

My Username has been nicked on both youtube and gamefaqs, I hate all this [(insertname)+V2], V3, V4 crap I see all the time now. I love meeting people who pretend to be professional gamers, funny as hell when they don't play well.

You should hear how some of those idiots try to pronounce my username. It's part of the reason I picked it for XBL, because it's just so damn hilarious.

becuase KA-RA-SHI drop is a fucking easy name to get to. lol

Ive done it too though for the most part I just glance at names and call them by a nick name. What i find funy is that they could just call me drop but they insist on trying to tackle the first part of my name.
