Do You Hate Your Siblings?
Siblings tend to hate each other for a number of different reasons. When I was a kid, I got passed the old clothes, beaten every time I fought my big bro, and ridiculed many many times by my big bro and sis. Now, we get along pretty well, but some siblings, like my cousins TOTALLY hate each other. Do you hate your siblings? Did you get over it? Why?

I don't hate my sister, but we still have family scuffles because she dates the wrong people and she largely still acts like she is 13, even though she is now 26.

A few years ago I bursted into tears because I finally discovered why I was always mollesting my brother.
It was because my mother favoured me and my father favored my brother. We were both jealous of each other with different parents I guess. Pretty sick My mother and father split up at an early age. This is the only reason I can think of. I don't blame my parents, but I was never able to explain why I was so violent and evil. That and there was this bad army dad attitude that I had and I needed to make him harder and tougher. I gave him tough love. He cried too quick IMHO. That and sadistic humor, like making him run and trowing a basketbal at his heel hoping I would hit him and his toes would crash into the floor. Damn I was so bad back then. Maybe because of that I am now an angel. I did love him very much. And if I ever saw/heard anyone messing with they would get fucked up. Adults too. I helped him not choking once, he was choking on some big seed inside a peach or something like. He still remembers that
Another thing to think about is this. What if you parents one day grabbed a random kid from the street and put him in front of you and say to you: this is your friend for the rest of your life, play nice. You know what would happen? He would get f'd up! I still really feel bad for my behaviour. I would say something to upset him, he would hit and I would hit him back (harder offcourse in a "how dare you hit me" mannor) then he would start to cry. Sometimes, the little bugger would start to fake cry (the little bugger) and my father would hit me. Until that epic day I stood in my door opening with a look on my face: "you can hit me, but I'll hit you with everything I got".......he did not hit me. EPIC!
Also a friend of mine was a delinquent bad ass, but he has also turned into some kind of jezus. he recently got arrested for stuff he did when he was younger......he'll be out soon.
I sometimes feel like perhaps those that were angels back than can now be evil and very bad men.
saves me a trip to the shrink. I think I covered alot of useful stuff here.

We did that too. I had to "convince" him about the benefits though. He was sceptical.KindGrind wrote:My brother's 2 years younger than me, and we get along perfectly. I can get along great with my brother. I wouldn't say that was always the case, but I guess we stopped getting into hissy fits when I was 13, maybe 14. We even have a lot of friends in common, and do social things together (like going out to the pub, etc). I get along fine with more distant siblings too (although I don't see them often).
I had a similar experience with my brother. We'd pool money together to get games we'd want. That being said, we get along pretty well.KindGrind wrote:My brother's 2 years younger than me, and we get along perfectly. It helped though that were only about a year and a half apart and we both have the same hobbies, even today. We still swap games if one of us wants to play something. I just finished his copy of Prince of Persia, actually.
Dude um, I assume english is not your native language. I hope you realize that the first impression most people will get when reading this is that you were sexually molesting him. I hope that's not what you meant (I don't think it is) but I just wanted to let you know...D wrote:I was always mollesting my brother.

yeah its a shame about the word molesting. You used to be bale to get regular molesting but now it automatically gets tagged to sexual and usually comes hand in hand with pedophiles.
I remember if some one called you gay it was becuase you were happy not becuase you liked leather chaps and the village people
I like leather chaps. But only on Christina. mmmmmm

tangent over!

"Molester" (verb), in French, means to brutalize, to "bug" or taunt someone... and has no sexual connotation either.
"False friends" (misleading cognates) are very interesting. One that has always stroke me as funny... embarazada in Spanish, means pregnant, and not embarassé/embarassed. Same with the Spanish constipado (enrhumé/"to have a cold") and not constipé/constipated.
Anyways.

I have a sister and a brother, but they're a lot older than me (11 and 10 years), so it was never like a traditional sibling relationship. I'm sure they didn't enjoy babysitting me in the summer, but I was a pretty quiet kid so I doubt watching me was that hard.
I've seen that in a lot of people, except not with siblings, but parents. It seems a lot of people can't stand living with their parents (especially in their 20's), but get along great with them once they have their own place.Vexorg wrote:Me and my siblings never seemed to get along while we were growing up, but as soon as we all became adults and moved out, it all went away, and now we all get along great. I'm not so sure how well we'd get along if we all lived in the same house though...

My brother is an average likable guy. He's in okay shape I guess, not as good looking as I am, and he doesn't know a mac from a pc. He is probably the guy at the office who tells you good morning every day and you can't even remember his name or his face.
That said this guy is fuckin evil at every videogame involving more than one person. If there is an exploit, if there is an unstoppable player or play, and fuck even there's one weapon in an fps that's overpowered and this is his first time playing that game; he will find it and use it till you are ready to kick him in the nuts. He never stops doing this either till you throw the controller down and are ready to kick this guy's ass. He's done this ever since we were kids, and since he's in his 30's, I doubt he's ever going to stop.
So do I hate him? Only when he turns on a videogame console.

Back when I was living in England, I was lucky if I saw my bro more than once a year. He never answers his phone, and on the one occasion I did manage to get hold of him he couldn't talk because he was in the middle of a raid (WOW). As far as I know thats all he does.
No chance of me seeing him now I'm in Canada. Didnt get a christmas present this year either.

That's pretty sad.... I have friend who got hooked on that shit a couple of years ago too, and now he never replies to my emails, not even when I told him I was going to have a new baby ...Sly Cherry Chunks wrote: he couldn't talk because he was in the middle of a raid (WOW). Pretty lame. Even when I went to visit him for 2 days, pretty much all he and his wife did the whole time was play WoW. At least I brought my ps2 with Cave games though. And forced him to play a couple rounds with me

Wow is retarded, (and MMO's in general) because there is no skill involved whatsoever. It's just click click click on a bunch of fucking icons and waste your life away. So pointless

WoW is the fucking plague. Every WoW player I've known, has a big addiction problem. Like the guy who got kicked out of college and the guy that can't keep a job for playing that garbage 24/7, and the guy that was too fucking busy playing to go to the restroom. Just the other night this guy called me 12:00am to ask me if I could read him WoW ability charts because his Internet was down. I was busy studying and almost made me crush his reproductive organs over the phone.Sly Cherry Chunks wrote:Back when I was living in England, I was lucky if I saw my bro more than once a year. There's nothing worse than ppl who can't shut the fuck up about WoW. Everyone that I know that plays it knows that I hate the game with a passion and that I rather stab my right hand than play it, but they can't stop showing me their stupid characters and sending me youtube videos.

When growing up, my sister and I never got along. She is much older than I though, 6 and a half years… We were always at disagreement on everything! From TV to music to sports, and even video games, my sister was a fan of Atari, and me I was into Nintendo, I actually disliked Atari and some of it was in spite of my sister
But these days, pretty much since the mid 90s when I had graduated high school, we get along well and have good friendship. Sure we still have some differences, but we are grown adults and are better to appreciate our differences.

I'm the eldest in my family (aka the scapegoat) and while I don't "hate" my siblings (one sister, one brother), none of us are anything alike (especially my sis - if you ever met the two of us separately you'd never guess we were related), so we tend to just do our own thing and not interact that much. As has been mentioned, though, there are times that I could strangle them both.

My younger sister and I (2.5 year difference) never got along really well. I never hated her, and we get along okay now, but I'd kill her if I ever had to live with her for a prolonged period of time again.
My youngest sister and I however are pretty close (8.5 year difference). I gave her the typical older brother tormentings when she was younger, but we get along great.
