Cloudphobia!
I LOVE episode 3. I also like getting into the game on the ground floor before all the superplayers memorize the optimum scoring paths and I'm on equal footing with them. Case in point: I made 1st place in Episode 3 tonight, but I can't even score in the top 100 for Episode 1 (which has been available for years).
I'm "Sexy" on the Highscore boards, btw.

Ah yes, rapid fire unit is a must!Kollision wrote:I was trying to beat it, but I stopped to wait for my rapid fire unit to arrive so that I don't get my fingers/wrist damaged while doing it.Sonic R wrote:I LOVE this game!Kollision wrote: Action Fighter on the SMS.
I have been playing this (Action Fighter)
as well as Galaxy Force
on the Sega Master System.
Gradius 2 on the Wii's VC. The one also known as "Vulcan Venture", apparantly.
Great game, but horribly punishing if you even die once.
Im playing on Arcade/Difficult, and right now stage 6, I think it is, is stopping me..... that horrible metallic maze that you shoot through at the speed of light. I can reach that point without dying as long as I dont do something stupid in 4, but I get there, and...... splat.

Tell me about it. Die on Stage 3 and respawn just before the crystal storm, and the game becomes literally impossible.-Bridget- wrote:Gradius 2 on the Wii's VC. The one also known as "Vulcan Venture", apparantly.

I played some Gradius Gaiden again last night. On a PS1. I have a JPS2 but I like not having a slowdown-y Stage 7.
I also had the most stupidest death in a Gradius in a while: on stage 9, just after respawning, I lost my last life by crashing into a (stationary) ceiling.
And then the announcer laughed at me and I threw my controller on the ground (as is my ritual whenever he does that).

I have been playing Deep Blue for the Turbo Grafx 16 on my Turbo Duo this afternoon.
This game is of infamy but I have always enjoyed it and continue to enjoy it today. It can be frustration but I have had a few great games where I was able to get to the Scene D (final stage) rather swiftly.
I got to thinking that many around these parts probably hate because it is a game for survival rather than scoring. I play shooters for survival and this game rewards it with progression.
I bet I am the number one fan of this game in the entire world…
Oh well, I am having a great day today. (Also playing some Splatterhouse and Victory Run but they are non shooting)

power-ups take too long...if you die anywhere past stage 1 in the game....you can forget it. your fish-ship moves too slow.Sonic R wrote:I have been playing Deep Blue for the Turbo Grafx 16 on my Turbo Duo this afternoon.

Fight Like A Robot!
mushihimesama ps2
galactic attack saturn
Border Down DC
Don't think i'll ever use less than several credits on mushi but it's a blast to play. Original is kinda boring but Maniac is good fun. Ultra is just there laugh at me.
I fell off on galactic attack (layer section) so I'm trying to relearn that game. Just started Border Down and the verdict is not in yet.

Gradius IV on the PS2 (can make it to st. 5, maoi heads) gonna be working on it a bit more. Also some Darius Gaiden in MAME, a 1cc seems doable if I follow a good route. I hate that scorpion lookin' boss that goes into a ball and rolls around.
I'm sick of Mushihimesama right now, my skills aren't cooperating with my high score efforts.

Trizeal on PS2. Made it to Stage 4 (long asteroid section is long) on one credit, Normal difficulty. Not a bad game. Quite generous with the slowdown, though -- I'm assuming the PCB/DC port/Windows port has noticeably less.
I was also playing Border Down all yesterday and some of today, but eventually got tired of looking for the right places to use the Break Laser. Still having trouble adjusting to the game, as a whole.
