I 1cc'd Deep Blue!

Post by Sonic R »

:D

Deep Blue for the Turbo Grafx 16 is notorious for being a crappy game, and many people consider it one of the worst, but I have always liked it… I am kind of a masochist when it comes to this game.

I have had this game since I was a youth, I bought it new for $39.99 plus tax at Toys R Us back around 1992. I spent alot of time playing it then and on occasion in more recent years. I never could beat it though… I had got good enough to get to the 4th stage but would get destroyed rather quick.

Well I have been playing this game for the past few days and tonight, I finally finish it! The game has no ending and just loops… I died about half way through Scene A' as I was filled with the jitters from finally beating this game!

I don't know what else to say… This is a 1cc that has been sixteen years in the making.

Congratulations - you're probably one of 5 people worldwide who managed (or were patient enough) to finish this game

Sonic R, I'm confused. That game is really hard, but I'm near sure I've heard you complain about how you suck at shooters. What's going on here? Am I misremembering?

And i thought the "Conglaturations" endings found in many '80-'95 games were hilarious...

Congrats, you have some incredible patience. If only Pack In Video didn't go under. We could be playing Deep Blue 3 by now :D

Congratulations from me.

After finishing Deep Blue you should search for new targets.

How about 1´cc X2 ( the european version ) on the PS1.

Surely this will keep you busy for some years. :) :D

Or maybe you try Image Fight II on the PC-Engine.

Have fun ....

Congrats, dude.

I share your masochistic knack for crappy and hard shmups. I also beat Deep Blue a while ago, even got to the 4th stage again in the loop (those damn things falling from the top of the screen got me, they get so fast...).

And yes, let's keep beatin' them! ;)

I had played more and I got to the same point in the second loop in stage 4. Those dropping urchins are brutal and I think luck is the only thing that can get one through. If I can pass this part I am a lock to finish the game.

I guess I found my one specialty… I have a high failure rate at many of the games I play but by some irony, Deep Blue is the one game where I am able to feel success… My one trophy in the world of shooting games…

Sonic R is good when it comes to the old school. It is the more modern Cave shooters and the sort that he has a hard time with. Congrats Sonic, I am terrible at old school games and that one is definitely no exception.

So after checking a Japanese site, turns out you only get the "Next" after the first loop.

After beating the second loop you get a "Fin". Much better!

Wow, congrads. I usually gave up playing this when the hits ranked up. The sound of your ship getting damage could cause high blood pressure.

X2 is Deep Blue?

So Deep Blue is the sequel to Team 17's Amiga Euroshmup Project X?

EDIT: And well done Sonic R!

Congrats as well, and I also love hard old-school shmups. I'm not that into bullet-manic, but whenever I get around to getting ESPgaluda and a JP PS2, that might convert me.

But for now, it's all old school-that's what I grew up with; I never even knew about bullet-manic shmups until I found this site!

For "spadgy":

" X2 " on the PS 1 has nothing to do with Deep Blue on the
PC-Engine.

The european version of " X2 " has good graphics and, a
question of taste, good music.

But in my opinion the game is unplayable - many years ago
I used a cheat and hoped the game will become better in
the later stages. I found no fun in this game.

Many people consider Deep Blue as a bad game and they are
right. But .... trying to 1 ´cc X2 without cheat will be like hell.
But maybe there are some people who can make it

Capcom released an updated japanese version of X2 - someday
I will see if this version is better and playable.

I remember playing it over at Ghegs's. We never got far into it, though. We got bored pretty quickly because it was so bland. X2 makes its incredibly dull predecessor look like a decent shmup. The hilariously bad intro FMV, which seems totally unrelated to the game, is an experience in itself, though.

Kiken at least seemed to like it. I remember watching a video of him completing the game.

The Japanese Capcom version of X2 improves the game by quite a bit, and makes it pretty playable.

SonicR: How do I approach the Scene C boss - that bastard purple seahorse who spits "mini-effigies"! Do I go high or low? I got to him twice tonight and he laid the screws to me - and I had a "blue eye"! Nothing in the way of a power-up, though...
