I've got some video footage of my mates gig and I want to take the Video files, recorded as MPEG-4 Files and I want to convert the sound off the files to either MP4 sound or MP3.
I've done it before with Nero but keep getting error messages.
Can anyone recommend a decent freeware converter that I can use for this purpose?
I did something similar in Garageband on Mac. I imported the video, erased the video track but kept the audio data, saved the file, took out the AIFF data from the files content and converted it to mp3 via iTunes.
With Audacity, I usually just have it set to capture the computer audio (anything that plays on the computer will be captured). I hit record, play the video that I want to capture the audio from, trim the ends of the audio recording, convert to MP3, and presto!
Of course, this doesn't really work with ALL computers, from what I've learned. And depending on what's responsible for playing all of those computer sounds, the setting will have to be either "Wave Out Mix" or "Stereo Mix" or something similar.
I used to use Total Recorder, but I can't get it to work on my laptop, I was recommended Audacity and have never looked back since installing it. I use it for recording Radio Programmes and ripping the sound from live gigs I record on my camera.
