T.W.T.P.B. Final Version Released

Post by hObbE »

Join the Imperial Legions and eradicate alien forces that threaten the Terran Empire - shoot em up - T.W.T.P.B.

T.W.T.P.B. a stylized shoot 'em up game for pc with tons of action and eye candy has just been released in it's final version, there are also new screen shots and a new gameplay video at the T.W.T.P.B. homepage.

The game features intense boss fights, special abilities and online highscores and of course the frantic action of a shooter.

You find the demo download (both via hUb and separate zip archive), screen shots and video at the shoot 'em up - T.W.T.P.B. web page.

Enjoy!

P.S.
If you don't hear anything from me in a while I'm not being rude, as it seems me and my wife could be having our second baby today :)

I gave it a try and it was pretty underwhelming. Not sure how long it takes to get difficult but the preview video made even the later stages look like a ton of bullet vomit.

Also .. you get a shield.

Also .. the quotes in the preview video made me want to strangle a puppy.

Plays and looks like it's made by people who don't "get" shmups.

To add something constructive:

It´s called bullet-PATTERN for a reason. Most of the red dots flying across the screen here don´t seem to follow any logic at all, making this game very unpleasant to look at (and probably play, I´m on a mac here). Take a look at some high-profile shmups on YouTube or something, and you´ll notice that all of them have bullet patterns that are very carefully crafted. The one "streamer" pattern reminds me of Ketsui, so maybe you could learn a few things from this game.

Bullet Hell doesn´t mean bullet mess. And just to be sure I would add a visible, glowing hitbox to the ship to not make things harder than they need to be. As it is, the Geometry Wars-look is just covering a very basic and unpolished game. Check out rRootagehttp://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~cs8k-cyu/windows/rr_e.html for a game that combines the "vector" look AND solid bullet patterns very well.

Oh, and I would consider choosing a catchier title for your game. It´s current title reminds me too much of WTFBBQ.

While I think there is some sound advice in here, the last thing he wants to do is create yet another Generic Doujin Shooter with no identity or ideas of its own.

I would change the title though, its shit.

Give advice for small changes rather than bashing his work.

P.S.

You may want to post your game on Shmup-Dev if you are interested in honest and fair critique. However many people may be put off by the HUB system you are using. It is EXTREMELY annoying to have to install a whole framework just to support a single demo of a game. I'd say that only 1/4 of people are going to try your game because of this.

After waiting 20 minutes and installing the various components it failed to run stating that my graphics card would not support a shader. I don't really want to fight this much more.

Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Uhh, you don't really need to download that HuB thing. It's possible to grab it as a stand-alone installer.

Hey Guys!

Sorry for my lack of response and this somewhat short reply, but we just got a baby daughter and things are... well a bit hectic :P

I don't mind the bashing of my game. If you make something and put it out there you have to be ready for that. Sorry most of you don't seem to like it though. In my opinion the game has both some strong points and some weak points.

Thanks for the constructive pointers, I'll take these to my next game!

Cheers! :)

I've watch the video- i might download the demo and have a go soon- the game looks ok- not good enough for a commercial release IMO.

It struck me as quite 'geometry wars' like- graphically similar- was geometry wars an influence?
