Strangely I read that Best Buy was going to start stocking LPs.
I went into my local record shop last weekend, and had a conversation with the proprietor about this. Apparently, Best Buy's demand is creating a vinyl shortage. He said several of his orders have gone unfilled because of it. He specifically mentioned problems getting certain Matador releases.
Funny that there are supply problems for a "dead format" in an industry struggling to keep it's head above the water...
I buy 99% of my records from the aforementioned shop, but have done business with http://www.auralexploits.com/ and have been happy.

Ah, sorry mate, I forgot about you being in the US
Did you use warpmart when they were part of the warp records site? They used to do a weekly or fortnightly news letter update on the site that listed and commented on all the new releases from electro to hiphop to glitch to techno and it was by far the best way to keep up-to-date with new music. The new site doesn't seem to do it anymore, real shame.

Hot Topic sometime in the last year or so started carrying LP editions of alot of old hc/punk, metal, etc albums (Bad Brains, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Black Flag, Misfits, Minor Threat, Joy Division off the top of my head) and some newer stuff too. Ah don't you know?? Vinyl is the cool thing now! Especially when it's not original and still just as expensive as the cd!
Buzzcocks - Love Bites
Pharoah Sanders - Thembi
V/A - This is Austin, not L.A. (Local hardcore comp that my buddy is producing/contributing to. Really good stuff! The final version will be out in a couple of months, methinks.)
Cococoma - s/t
Teengenerate - Get Action!
Stooges - s/t
Amon Tobin - Permutation
Eh, been a bit bored with music in general lately. Not feeling super inspired by...anything really.
Oh! I have seen some good live music this week, though: A.H. Kraken, The Terrible Twos, Overnight Lows, and The Girls of Gravitron, all of whom were kind of brilliant in their own respective ways. And there was a free in-store two blocks from my house with Times New Viking and the Hex Dispensers. I love...living in the city!
that nasum' album is a sort of tsunami in my ears...
mieszko will sent me a thunder on my head after this maybe.
i'm listening to harvestman and lustmord... or this one: mac http://www.otouv.org/mac01.html. let me know what you think if you like drone and similar... [/url]
I honestly can't believe how hard it shreds. Female vocals. Bowel-shaking-bass-heavy production. Sounds like shit on iPod ear buds, but blows my mind when I listen to it on the ol' hi-fi.

Funny that you say that. One of the members died in the tsunamis.

However, if you guys haven't already, you should check out Tobacco's Fucked up Friends. Tabacco = the brains behind Black Moth Super Rainbow if that helps... Anywho, Aesop Rock does a track on his Solo album, and it is unfuckingbelievably awesome.
