Punisher: War Zone

Post by postman »

Despite bad word of mouth and no big name actors, I decided to check this out yesterday and was pleasantly surpirsed.

Ray Stevenson plays a great Punisher (minus the accent), and I really think he nailed the character. They make him a very tormented soul in this version, and his character is actually pretty deep.

Much more faithful to the comic also, as his origin is now the central park killing..........also Microchip is in the film too............

My only grips are that the skull is hardly visible, and the British accent pops up every now and then. If you are looking for a much darker grittier version of Frank Castle, this is it.
Don't just dodge bullets, dance around them.

Jimmy McNulty is the villain. That almost makes me want to see this movie.

I personally don't remember any mention of Jamaica- though overall the movie was great fun. I'm saddened that more people have not watched it. I'm definitely buying it when it comes to the home formats.

Nah, i mean in the first movie they sent him and his entire family to Jamaica for no reason when they really could have just stuck with the central park theme and had it be equally as tragic. He also got nursed back to health by a witch doctor for no reason at all.

Lol-I guess I blocked that part from my memory. Yeah- the punisher movie's haven't faired too well in the continuity aspect. With everything I know about the comics and everything I've heard- this is the closest one!

Well, even though crime was much higher in New York when the old Punisher comics were written, it's still kind of stupid for mobsters to first carry out a gangland execution in broad daylight in one of the most-visited public parks in the country, then be surprised that someone saw them. Wow, what are the odds?
