Bangai-O, DC, Last Boss....WTF?!
I just recently got this game, and have been putting some time into it. I got to the end, and...uh, this is the cheapest boss I have ever faced. I mean, you die so easily...it's crazy unfair.
Anyway, I don't know if I can beat this guy, although I had him down to about less than one fourth his energy. However, going through the whole stage to get to him is what's keeping me from giving it my all. I've probably gone through the stage 25 times or so.
Well, anyone here had luck with this son of a bitch?

mainly you want to double-tap dash around the perimeter of the screen, and then when the boss unleashes his huge onslaught on missiles, use the small platform (that the boss was standing on at the beginning of the fight) to block the attack. This doesn't make it easy, but it does make it possible.
It took me well over a year to beat Bangai-O, and at one point I almost started to hate the game because of that last boss ~ definitely imbalanced from he rest of the game. None-the-less Bangai-O is one of my favorite games of all time. Too bad they changed the formula so much with Bangai-O Spirits.

i'll have to pull this out again but i dont remember it being all that difficult. when he releases his big crazy attack wait til you are about to get hit then unleash your crazy bomb attack. he'll counter by doing the same thing again and you just keep canceling each others counter-bombs until he misses a beat and gets hit (or you get hit and get to see that awesome continue screen).
of course i could be totally wrong. last time i played this game was probably 2002 or so.

My run through the Dreamcast final stage would be a better help, I imagine.

You know, Bangai-O took me a while to warm up to, but now I think it's really cool. I am like that with a lot of Treasure games for some reason. I love them, but it takes me a while to get the hang of their software.Koa Zo wrote:mainly you want to double-tap dash around the perimeter of the screen, and then when the boss unleashes his huge onslaught on missiles, use the small platform (that the boss was standing on at the beginning of the fight) to block the attack. Anyway, you know what really bothers me about Spirits the most is? The graphics. I never hear anyone say anything about this. I understand that they had to have simpler graphics for the large amounts of things going on in the game, but if the sacrifice had to be that great, maybe they shoulda just kept it on the drawing board. I mean, the game looks almost like a beta to me. Astro Boy and Gunstar Super Heroes look 3X better. I understand the limitations they had, but Spirits looks like ass.
Pretty fun though. But I like the DC version better(in gameplay too).

i know what you mean. i've got sin and punishment sitting on my wii but it's got such an odd control scheme that i couldn't get into it. i'll have to go back to that at some point. silhouette mirage took a while for me to get into, but once it all clicked it was brilliant.evil_ash_xero wrote:I love them, but it takes me a while to get the hang of their software.
I couldn't seem to get Silhouette Mirage down and I've been through two phases and working with the game. I eventually just gave up on it.brokenhalo wrote:i know what you mean. i've got sin and punishment sitting on my wii but it's got such an odd control scheme that i couldn't get into it. i'll have to go back to that at some point. silhouette mirage took a while for me to get into, but once it all clicked it was brilliant.evil_ash_xero wrote:I love them, but it takes me a while to get the hang of their software.

Now those two...hmmm...SM I honestly never put much time into. I got it as a freebie when I ordered some imports. It was in Japanese, so I just sorta didn't "get it" at the time.brokenhalo wrote:i know what you mean. i've got sin and punishment sitting on my wii but it's got such an odd control scheme that i couldn't get into it. i'll have to go back to that at some point. silhouette mirage took a while for me to get into, but once it all clicked it was brilliant.evil_ash_xero wrote:I love them, but it takes me a while to get the hang of their software.
Sin and Punishment I have on VC, but I kind of can't get into it, because of it's weird ass control scheme.
I'm still gonna have to go with Panzer Dragoon Orta as the ultimate rail shooter.

No I haven't, but I went to it's Wiki. I see it's an Arcade only game, so I doubt i'll ever get to play it. Is it over 9000?boagman wrote:Now, I'm not being critical here, because I haven't played PDO, but have you played Planet Harriers? Because *man*...that's rail-shooting bliss, right there.evil_ash_xero wrote:I'm still gonna have to go with Panzer Dragoon Orta as the ultimate rail shooter.

Ah, but you gotta play PDO. It's a beautiful thing indeed. It's like the older ones, but they added more elements like having to speed up and slow down when fighting bosses(sounds simple, but it actually can make you fly behind them and dodge attacks, or get to their weak spots) and warping on will into three different types of dragons that are good for the situation. It's just a great and beautiful game.

Dude, he's likely talking about:brokenhalo wrote:PDO is backwards compatible. just a shame it looks like crap on my hdtv. it's a fun game though.landshark wrote:I wish they'd release this game as an xbox live game.
Not for shame as even the topic starter got this thread off-topic in the first place. Wouldn't you wonder why someone would want an Xbox game on XBLA though? Doesn't make much sense at all.topic title wrote:Bangai-O, DC, Last Boss.... WTF?!

hahaha. sorry, just following the flow of the thread. i don't think they would bother porting this to xbla arcade. if the sales figures from ikaruga scared treasure off from porting RSG there is no way they'd try a lesser known title like bangai-o. i'd probably buy it again if they did though.Limbrooke wrote:Dude, he's likely talking about:brokenhalo wrote:PDO is backwards compatible. just a shame it looks like crap on my hdtv. it's a fun game though.landshark wrote:I wish they'd release this game as an xbox live game. Not for shame as even the topic starter got this thread off-topic in the first place. Were the sales for Ikaruga on XBLA bad? God, that's depressing if so. I mean, it just sort makes you realize that even on a platform where games like Sonic 2 and BC rearmed(2D games), that there is still no place for the shmup. It was cheap too. People just don't like them, I suppose. Depressing.brokenhalo wrote:hahaha. sorry, just following the flow of the thread. i don't think they would bother porting this to xbla arcade. if the sales figures from ikaruga scared treasure off from porting RSG there is no way they'd try a lesser known title like bangai-o. i'd probably buy it again if they did though.Limbrooke wrote:Dude, he's likely talking about:brokenhalo wrote: PDO is backwards compatible. just a shame it looks like crap on my hdtv. it's a fun game though. Not for shame as even the topic starter got this thread off-topic in the first place. Yeah, Bangai-O on XBLA would be great.

Bangai-O was my main reason for getting a Dreamcast. Amazing game, the chaos that occurs is mind blowingly awesome. As for the last boss, I saw Mrmonkeymans videos on youtube for tips and after attempting the boss 15 times or so I was able to kill him. Its all about timing really, wait till the last second to launch your missile barrage. I wish someone could make this game as a doujin shooter on the PC (up the missile count to 10,000?
) or even as a xbla release.

Because it's alot easier to select games from the menu rather than get up and swap the CD =) Plus the size of the game is small and doesn't necessarily warrant a CD/DVD.Limbrooke wrote: Not for shame as even the topic starter got this thread off-topic in the first place.
