xbox 360 question

Post by nash87 »

Is there any reason to keep a US xbox 360 if you have/get a jap 360? Would a different regioned console affect or maybe restrict anything online? Any info helps

While a good chunk of US games work on a J360, not all of them do - there are compatibility lists floating around. Also, some demos and such will be in Japanese when DLed on a J360, even if your ID is registered in the US or elsewhere.

Those are what come most immediately to mind...

It's always good to keep one around in case one of them gets RROD fever and has to go take at nap at MS repair center :P

I don't think there is too much reason to, especially since original Xbox games are not region coded. The only games I currently own that won't play on my NTSC/J 360 are Beautiful Katamari (big loss), Dead or Alive 4 ($30 for K or J region copy) and Virtua Fighter 5 (PS3 version available). I wanted to buy Fallout 3, which is also region-locked, but I won't even consider it until Bethesda considers patching up the bugs that corrupt the save files.

Just follow Elixer's guide in the sig, and all will be answered.

Original Xbox games are also region lock.
I was to play Out Run 2 recently and had my Japan 360 hook up, and it would not play it.

Another question, has anyone in the US had their Japanese 360 Red Ring and have to send it in for repairs? How do they deal with it?

That's odd, I have to explore this a little more Sonic R. I popped King Of Fighters Neowave and King of Fighters 2002/2003 (all NTSC/U games) and they worked just fine on my NTSC/J 360. I am using my NTSC/U harddrive, but I didn't think that it mattered.

I'll try some more games and see what happens.

Original Xbox games *are* region locked, Sonic R is right.

I never said he was wrong.

I related my experience, and I've explored the consequences in another thread.

Some original Xbox games are region free, not many though.

Scratch that Sonic R. My reasons for being able to play those games are more sinister and depressing.

Sorry for the misunderstandings
I have edited the previous post.

These Xbox 360 issues can be quite massive between consoles and regions!

Ah well… I'm afraid the best solution is to have both a Japan and a USA 360. I understand that it is expensive however
I purchased my Japan 360 with income tax money and I was able to find a good price at the time. If anyone understands financial hardship it is me :(
