Let's list Arcade platformers

Post by indstr »

I tried out Wardner for Genesis today and I was blown away ... Definitely want to get my hands on some more arcade originally platformers.

Any recommendations?
If more 2D people would go to the 2D Gaming Forum, there would be more people to talk about 2D games with other 2D fans on the tootie gaming forum. It's 2Dlicious. For real yall

@indstr
I know you are doing this here because you want more feedback, but come on. I'm pretty sure you'd get the same replies to most of the questions you've been asking here lately in our other forum. :)

Single-screen platformers rule:

Arabian. Lode Runner meets Bruce Lee...
Mr. Do's Castle. Brilliant and inventive.
Mr Do's Wild Ride. Ditto.
Jumping Jack. Another brilliant platformer from Universal.
Pandora. Very good platformer form Konami.

Since you like Wardner, check out Thunder Hoop by Gaelco. It's sort of a cross between Wardner and Megaman, with plenty of frustrating moments. It's got a little bit of an Amiga vibe to it too.

What kind of platformers? Like Wardner?

Pure Platformer (Alex Kidd, New Zealand Story, Pac-Land)

or

Fighting Action platformers?
(Rastan, Ghost'nGoblins, Cadash, Rygar, Shinobi, Kuri Kinton)

2d Action shooter with some platforming?
(Sunset Riders, Contra, Metal Slug, Gunforce 1/2, Wild west Cows)

Old-school platformers?
(Donkey kong, Bubble bobble, Sonson, Burger time, Don Doko Don)

One that I may suggest no matter what specific kind your'e searching for is Liquid Kids
