So when should we be expecting this game to appear on the shelves?

the only reason i mention is, i checked the topic and couldn't remember for a minute if my memory was a dream. clear logic doesn't always win outright.
Well, I just hope people won't judge Gunstar Super Heroes by the ROM like they did with the GBA Advanced Guardian Heroes. From what I heard, Advance Guardian heroes doesn't slow down nearly as much in the actual game as it does in the rom.

I still question whether that is true. I play the real game on my DS and I notice the slowdown nearly everytime I start doing combos on someone... it's not immediately noticable, but if you pay attention, you can see it slowing down. Maybe some people are used to the slowdown in the Saturn version to notice it?

But either way, I'm not too worried about GUnstar SUper Heroes.. the video shows no signs of slowdown and no one has complained about it so far.

oh ok. My bad. It looks like that person the says the game doesn't slow down as much as the rom (he never said it doesn't slow down) doesn't know what he's talking about. I wish you could rent GBA games. AGH sounds like a good rental, but with these mixed ratings, I'm not sure if I want to buy it. However, what does people noticing the slowdown in the Saturn version have to do with anything? You know that saying about assuming things....

I'm guessing this Fall, around September. It'd be super sweet if it released on the anniversary of AGH release date, I dunno why, it just would.

The only reason I mentioned the slowdown in the Saturn version is because the GBA version has LESS slowdown than the Saturn version. So if someone was used to the slowdown in the Saturn version, AGH's slowdown doesn't seem bad at all, while a person who hasn't played the Saturn version (recently) might immediately notice the slowdown and complain about it....

I thought blockbuster lets you rent out GBA games? Did they stop doing that already? I haven't been there in a while.

oh ok, you have a point, though I'm certain that there are plenty of people who played the Saturn version with enough sense to notice the slowdown in both games. Blockbuster stopped renting GBA games. I took advantage of it by getting a used Tony Hawk 2. The games have this annoying sticker on them, though.

That does look surprisingly good, better than I thought a GBA Gunstar could look. Nice work, Treasure.

holy shit man. i am screaming on the inside.

that is the single most impressive bit of gba footage i have ever seen. there is a part of me inside that cannot believe that is running on actual hardware. that opening part with the thing and the moving things with the moving things... is just... wow!

this game was a definite purchase before, but now it is even more so... somehow.
I have no sig whatsoever.

Yeah -- looking forward to Castelvania DS. Just one more week. I doubt I'll be finished with Grandia III by then though.

Awesome footage!

BTW, was the original Gunstar Heroes ever released on the Sega Master System? I know it was released on the Game Gear.

Yes I think so, but it is rare. A Brazilian release.

The orginal Gunstar Heroes was released on Sega Mage Drive. It never released on Master System nor Game Gear.

It is the 2nd costly Treasure game on Mage Drive. The 1st being Ailian Solder.

That is incorrect. Gunstar Heroes was released for Game Gear in Japan. I "tried it out" on a rom. It's actually a very good port of the Genesis version, but it's only one player. Here are some screens from the game. http://www.vgmuseum.com/images/gg/gg031.html

Edit: Doh. Second costly Treasure game, not second costly game. However, Gunstar is not the second costly Treasure game on the MD either. YuYu Hakusho is more expensive than any version of Gunstar.

So which game is? I'd like to see games like Toejam and Earl actually be worth something, considering the quality this game has.

The Master System Gunstar is almost undoubtedly the rarest Treasure game of all.

if it really does exist, it's still to be proofed. It seems unlikely, though.

A thing to note about Brazil: it is a highly profitable country. Game releases are often behind the rest of the world so while we were playing on our Saturns, they were still getting new SMS and Mega Drive releases, not to mention weird hybrids. The SMS Gunstar Heroes was released by TecToy (a Brazilian division of Sega), so it's safe to say this is not a pirate cart.

I didn't say nobody says it exists, a source would obviously be helpful. I know about Brazil, Tectoy and stuff. However, unlike MS Dynamite Headdy for instance, its existence has never been proved (except you believe in phony ebay auctions and nameless quotes, which I do not).

this is from www.smspower.org , the most comprehensive SMS source I know about:

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Unconfirmed Releases
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Has anybody actually PLAYED or OWNS one of those ?
Note that some likely fake pictures are circulating.
The existence of those games is doubtful: they once appeared on eBay,
all sold by the same seller, all bought by a new buyer and no feedback
was left for the transaction. The games pictures were likely faked.
You can see some picture/information at:
http://www.smspower.org/misc/fake/
Please do not e-mail me about those games unless you have additionnal
information/proof.

From what I can tell(and no; I don't remember the link of that quote - don't waste my time.) it was a brazilian made cartridge that didn't become officialized, however, if it does exist, it would be emulated or poorly transferred.

Well, the new Gunstar Heroes is out! Impressions of Treasure's new gameboy advance Gunstar Heroes game, suggest it's a completely revamped game compared to the MD version.

Ugh, mentioning the game just makes it harder to wait for the US release. Though, I'll be fine for like two weeks while playing Castlevania DS.
