Well I will say this: while there are some great Wii-Ware titles, I'd rather have VC titles.
How long do you guys think Nintendo will continue to support the VC? It's down to just one game a week, so it could conceivably dry up.

Maybe as long as they don't announce any future console that might render the VC redundant? For example, a successor of the DS that doesn't have two screens but has the capability (and compatibility) to do the same as the VC, but portable and probably with many gimmicks to make it even more attractive.dave4shmups wrote:How long do you guys think Nintendo will continue to support the VC? But being Nintendo, you don't always know what to think. As long as I don't see Protöthea being ported to their future machines it'll be fine...

I fear that the WiiWare might be Weanware as far as the VC goes.dave4shmups wrote:Well I will say this: while there are some great Wii-Ware titles, I'd rather have VC titles.

Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Hey, at least it has the Art Style/bit Generations series in it.Pixel_Outlaw wrote:I fear that the WiiWare might be Weanware as far as the VC goes.dave4shmups wrote:Well I will say this: while there are some great Wii-Ware titles, I'd rather have VC titles.

True, those are great games. But my fear is that the VC will become ALL Wii-Ware; to the exclusion of old-school games that are re-released. Heck, there's only one a week now, so that doesn't bode well for the future.sfried wrote:Hey, at least it has the Art Style/bit Generations series in it.Pixel_Outlaw wrote:I fear that the WiiWare might be Weanware as far as the VC goes.dave4shmups wrote:Well I will say this: while there are some great Wii-Ware titles, I'd rather have VC titles.

I love the Wii.
Now that I have that out of the way, I just don't see much value in the VC, or WiiWare releases.
I have a hard time shelling out $10 for a shallow WiiWare title, when I find ridiculous deals on full blown hard copy releases that I can hold in my hand, and display on my shelf. In the past week, I picked up Okami, Resident Evil 4, and Trauma Center: New Blood for under $15 each from Amazon... NEW!
The same can be said for Virtual Console. Why would I pay $9 to get Metal Slug 2 when I can pick up Metal Slug Anthology on sale for $20?
I won't even bring up the fact that all of the VC games can be emulated flawlessly elsewhere...

Most of them aren't terribly great values.gabe wrote:I love the Wii.

But take a look at the TurboGrafx section, and by buying a single Wii Points card, you can save enough on some Turbo games compared to the hard copies to pay for the entire cost of the wii system! (Dynastic Hero, I'm looking at you)
You're arguing for a universe with fewer waffles in it. I'm prepared to call that cowardice.

I do love the Wii as well; Super Mario Galaxy is absolutely incredible! I'm playing through it now, and I love it!gabe wrote:I love the Wii.

Classic controller support? Possible lack of possible lag that is supposedly in the PS2 version? The Wii version of MSA lacks Classic Controller support and has very odd control methods. No digital pad for GCN controller either.gabe wrote:

This isn't completely true. Aren't some N64 games that are on the VC still not 100% supported by PC emulators? Some games via PC emulation still have sound problems as well. And the emulation, from what I heard, has features that a lot of commercial compilations with emulation lack. It supposedly lacks filtering (aside from TG-16/PCE) and supports 480p, two things other compilations don't support. It sucks that EU got the short end of the stick on the VC, though. At least you got C64 with games like Boulderdash, but I heard the C64 emulation is flawed. ugh.I won't even bring up the fact that all of the VC games can be emulated flawlessly elsewhere...
Yeah, seriously. Get the Japanese version, Metal Slug Complete, if you're thinking of getting that. It actually has Classic controller support.BrianC wrote:Classic controller support? Of course, that's just an opinion.
