As long as she reads the FAQ and gets a general idea of how things work around here she ought to be okay, I think - I've been here for a few years, but compared to quite a few people on the forum I'm a beginner when it comes to shmups. So long as she's a fan of the genre and willing to learn a few things (which should happen pretty naturally if she hangs around), and well, isn't a total jerk, she should feel free to stop in.

Heh, normally I'd agree, but to be fair recently the out-of-thin-air Cave bashing has been in decline...methinks at the moment Otomedius makes a far juicier target, heh heh.Diabollokus wrote:Its easy ughman123, all you gotta do to fit in on shmups.com is occasionally insult a company called Cave. Everyone will think your a hardcore player that way, you'll seem edgy and controversial. Plus very few members will be bold enough to question such statements.
I think all the Cave bashers had a good laugh when DDP DFK 1.0 got CSed, and after that there wasn't much new to bash ..BulletMagnet wrote:Heh, normally I'd agree, but to be fair recently the out-of-thin-air Cave bashing has been in decline...methinks at the moment Otomedius makes a far juicier target, heh heh.Diabollokus wrote:Its easy ughman123, all you gotta do to fit in on shmups.com is occasionally insult a company called Cave. Step 1 would be to play some games, yes. For Christ's sake. Why would you want someone to post here if they don't care about the subject?ughman123 wrote:do you really need to know something about shmups to post something about shmups

I found this forum a few years ago when I was more into shmups (getting back into it now though!) and I read it for a while and I think I made one or two posts, if that. When I found the site I already had a basic understanding of games like Strikers 1945+, Dodonpachi, Batrider, and a few others. Basically I knew I liked shmups.
I would say you need to read the site FAQs, use the search function, and have a very basic understanding of what a vertical or horizontal shooting game is.
I am really into juggling and I post on many juggling forums and new people come by all the time. The same questions get asked over and over but people always help out because they want that person to feel welcomed and of course, get into juggling. Of course they are reminded to use search after that but they eventually get the hang of it. This board is extremely helpful, speaking from my recent activity here the past week or so.
