Border Down complete (DC) - £50
Radirgy (DC) - £32 tried to get this for ages for a decent price complete and managed to finally get one. Anyway opened the game up after delivery and it was the Sega Direct Edition (the same thing happened with my copy of Karous).
Jap Layer Section (Saturn) - £7 complete inc p+p from Japan
Alpha Mission 2 (Neo Geo) - £15

Suikoden 2 for £10. I lent it out to a friend of my sister's and he disappeared into the ether.
Ibara for $40, and fairly recently too. At that point, I saw it going for up to $120. It was minty and came with the Famitsu guide.
Truxton (MD) for a pound. I don't know how rare it is (not very I'd wager), but it was a nice find.
Disgaea for a fiver. Again, not particularly rare, but a great price for the American import version.
Guitar Hero 2 and a guitar for £10. Even the guy in the shop stratched his head and said it was a crazy price

Garegga is normally quite stable too (I know it's not Taito) but I know what you mean the arse seems to have fallen out of the Saturn market in general at the moment (picked up Guardian Force for £15!), which is good for usBal-Sagoth wrote:I got it for about that much, too. The only Taito shmup for the Saturn that seems to have retained its value is Metal Black.Jap Layer Section (Saturn) - £7 complete inc p+p from Japan
Great for us! Do wish MB was as accessible, though.

I love Layer Section of the Saturn, it's one of the cheapest Saturn shooters out there but one of the best.
I've only played MB on the PS2, I've heard that the arcade version is different and superior?
The Ving/Xing releases of Liquid Kids, Elevator Action Returns, and Metal Black are much better on the Saturn than on any of the PS2 Taito collections.
As for game deals?, the best I ever got was Genesis' Gaiares mint and complete for $1.99.
And Panzer Dragoon Saga for $29.99 brand new, but that was the going rate at the time, so not particularly a steal...

Overall- some very good deals. I do see a few "Seller accidentally shipped two" and "I never paid for the item with my credit card" things. I dunno- I kinda feel bad for the sellers. I'd really hope if I was paid with a credit card and the charges got reversed or if I shipped out a replacement someone would tell me. If I read those wrong- I apologize- maybe I missed something.
All that being said- some of the best deals are flea markets and such. Though- I did get a mint complete Castlevania X and Chrono for Super Nintendo for $8 each from an old Music shop that was closing down a few years back. At the time- Chrono was about 30$ used (cart only) and CV was about 30ish as well. Very fun games
For some reason- I don't see alot of the games of this generation jumping up in value quite like PSX, SNES, PS2 days.

I agree with you, but it would depend on who I got it from. If it were anybody from here or any seller from eBay I'd certainly let them know/pay/send one back.Battlesmurf wrote:Overall- some very good deals. There are however, some big import sites we all know who have failed to send out goods etc. I might find it a little harder to be quite so nice to them. They know who they are, and they owe me £50!
I checked out the 4 for £10 PS2 games in my local Gamestation and was lucky enough to find 1945 1 & 2, Psyvariar, R-Type Final and Steel Dragon Ex all in at the same time. So . . .a bargain at £2.50 each.
My best bargain find was a few years back - a fully working arcade machine with FixEight inside for just £30.
Had to sell it on, though because of lack of space . . .

Shoot, dodge, collect . . .it's the ONLY way to be !!
I got Chrono Trigger for Super Nintendo, with box and manual (no maps) for $4 US about 5 or 6 years ago. A birthday gift to a good friend of mine no less. Otherwise I cannot really speak of any true steals or amazing deals. I suppose I didn't pay too much for the PS2 normal (non-Taito Best) edition of Mushihimesama, around $40 if not less than that. More recently I got Marvel VS. Capcom 2 for PS2 for about $69 locally then resold it for $100 on ebay without much hassle.

Lets see....

I'm not sure how many steals I've gotten. But here goes.
Panzer Dragoon Saga for Skies of Arcadia and Test Drive for the Dreamcast lol
Guardian Heroes w/ multitap adatper Free (never paid the guy 10$ for it lol)
Sega Nomad Handheld system with Battery for 30$
I had plenty of other good deals but those are the ones I can think off the top of my head.

I just got given an old 1982 Zaxxon cocktail arcade cabinet by a friend leaving the country. It's not exactly in mint condition after 25 years of (ab)use, but it's certainly still in great working order with just some cosmetic damage and scuffs. Might have to look into how practical it'd be to restore it.
My favorite deal was getting ESPRade for $40 shipped off of KLOV. Yeah, that was an awesome day.
Got DoDonPachi, Batsugun, Saturn Bomberman, Cotton 2 and Baku Baku Animal all for the Saturn from a seller here for $110 a few months back. Got to see what he's got left...
I'm a deal hunter kind of guy though, so I never try and pay market and always wait for deals. It makes the hobby that much more fun.

Nice I think that's the first actual "steal" in this thread. Long time posters probably tire of my old tale, but I got my NeoGeo AES system w/ two joys and I think Samurai Showdown 2 for $20 at a local surplus/police auction.drboom wrote:My favorite deal was getting ESPRade for $40 shipped off of KLOV. Runner up was $20 for a Thundercade kit. I still love that game.

Righteous Super Hero / Righteous Love
Not a shmup, but deserves a mention. I just scored from eBay a complete copy of Famicom's excellent Gun-Dec (aka. Vice: Project Doom) for $1.50. I was the only bidder.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

When I was in Super Potato I couldn't find a copy of Mushihimesama for the PS2, so I asked if they had a copy hiding somewhere. The guy came out of the back with an opened but in great condition LE edition for 4,000 yen asking if that would do (the game was open, but the figure is still sealed).
I also got the soundtrack brand new from play-asia for very cheap during one of their sales.
