Raliza Software

Post by Shatterhand »

Yeah yeah, I know I haven't been around too much lately. Real life is being an ass.

but..., my "softwarehouse company" has a site again:

http://shatterhand.beatthegame.net/

A BIG BIG THANK YOU for Sikraiken who gave me the webspace, like a year ago... :D

There you can download the games I've made for the PC so far.

Hope you guys can enjoy the games.... Coloroids is still in beta phase to be honest, but it's completely playable.

I know the site sucks, I just did something quickly because I really wanted to put those games online again.

I thought more people would at least try Space Disorder... heh.

Listen to Kozo, it's a rather enjoyable game :)

I played Space Disorder. I liked it a lot. Any info you can give about it since the description on the site isn't in english?

What's the deal with the coin things? Are they worth more if you collect them in a row or closer to the top of the screen or what? And at what point do I get extends? I wasn't paying attention but I think I got a couple on my way to 30000. :)

You should have gone with a Japanese sounding name. Or even better, a faux German sounding name that only a Japanese could devise, like 'Ortagon Mädchen Stürmer Batterie (Zwei)'.

I liked the game. I would have liked the enemy formations to have moved a little faster and been a little more aggressive. I also think the different weapons could have had more of a defined purpose. Then again, the same could have been said for any Compile developed game.

And of course, use 'Z' instead of 'ctrl' for shooting.

The description on the site is both in english and portuguese, you've got portuguese on the left and english on the right.

But there's no info about scoring on the game :) There's some info on the readme.txt file comes together with the game.

The coins raise value as you get them. The 1st coin will give 1 point, the 2nd 2 points, and so on. Their value will reset only when you die, so no need to get them all. Get 100 coins, and you get an extra live (And the amount of coins needed for an extra live raises a little). The game gives you lots of lives early on, it's possible to get like 3 extends in less than 3 seconds... guess that's another nod to Compile :)

I must admit I don't remember with how many points you get your first extend (I've finished coding this game like 4-5 years ago), but it's nearly random numbers like in Compile games. At every new extend you get, the next one will need more points to be awarded (The game also will inform you how many points you'll need)

I liked the game. I would have liked the enemy formations to have moved a little faster and been a little more aggressive. I also think the different weapons could have had more of a defined purpose. Then again, the same could have been said for any Compile developed game.
Really? How far did you get? Most people usually complain that the game gets brutally difficulty very early (a little before the 1st bosses - stage 5 - the enemies will already be very agressive... reach level 20 and you'll be in hell :D).

About using Z... yeah, I would make the control setup different if I made the game today. I wouldn't even dare touching the source code of it again, because most of it is a big mess (Nowadays I am a more organized programmer :D), and it's something I consider "done", and I am working on new stuff now.

And I partially agree with the weapons. The rear shot is useful in some spots, the Triple shot is by far the best weapon in the game*, and laser and twin laser are basically the same thing (Normal laser has the same power of the twin laser).

*There's a secret weapon on the game which is powerful enough to destroy bosses in less than 5 seconds. Also there is a way to acquire options, which will make your ship a lot stronger too. Secret Weapon + 2 options is more deadly than a fully powered up X2 ship... problem is that when you die, you will *REALLY* miss all that power :).

When I wrote aggresive I didn't mean in terms of speed or numbers but more in the sense that enemies attack you or try to corner you. It's something I look for in all the shmups I play and one of the reasons I like Undead Line (and ground based shmups in general) so much. The way I see it, Compile shmups would be perfect for this type of gameplay but often enemies will go about on their own business as if you're not there at all.

I like the fact that the game is not bullet heavy. That's a big plus in this day and age. I'm currently only a little past the first boss, having lost most of my lives when I accidentaly hit the windows button and lost control over my ship for a long time afterwards, and the game really heats up at that point, moreso than any Compile game I have ever played, which I think is a good thing.

Not that many people would care, but last year I updated the site with a few new games. Megaship is not done yet, but there are a few small games there that may interest some people, as basically all of them are shmups.

I wanted to do a better site to display the games, but I didn't had the time, and couldn't be bothered to mess with it lately.

So, there it is. If anyone has anything to say about the games, I would be pleased to hear :)

Monorider looks like it will be a lot of fun. Downloading it right now.

(Can't wait for the updated graphics to appear in Megaship. Seeing the inferior old ones makes me cringe a bit everytime. )

Sorry about that :), I am just too lazy to update the site. I've done this update a few months ago, and I did it very quickly. I am always thinking "I should go and do a proper site", but I end up never doing.
