Worlds Best XBLA Ikaruga Player is [possibly] Female

Well, I was surprised anyway. Japanese player ga key has held the top spot since April, but his score was beaten in November by fellow Japanese player AUM aun with a score of 33,623,410. What makes me think they might be female? Because of their avatar (unless they like cross-dressing):

I thought it was interesting anyway...

Does anyone know what the world records are for the other versions? How does this score compare?

I believe some guys have female avatars for various reasons, and I've seen quite a few instances already. Mine's a female right now, since I'd rather have a cute girl on my screen than looking at a poor representation of myself.

However, if that player is a girl...

I was so annoyed by this avatar shit that I selected the first choice on my jp account and it happened to be female.

I found a similar trend on PC modding forums. An overwhelming amount of their modded PC pics feature some half naked chic draped across the desktop when showing off their computers. I can't help but think that the amount of female avatars/desktops/etc. is inversely proportional to folks' experience w/ analog women.

I don't know what's more annoying - someone thinking something virtual is an accurate representation of a real person, or a sexist.

Many Japanese players use female avatars, play any MMORPG with Japanese people and a good 90% of them will be playing female characters. Hell, I have some Japanese people on my friendlist that I know are male, and they have female avatars.

And though admit I'm always (pleasantly) surprised to see female shmup players, I wish it wasn't an issue. I see why it is, as loads of us are male players, but I wish the way the world was meant female players didn't even cause us to raise an eyebrow...

the same could be said about Americans. I can't quote 90% but its close to 50%. I usually play a guy but in Guild Wars I played a female since her dance was more enjoyable to watch. Belly Dance > Seinfeld dance IMO.
