I'm looking for this arcade game...

Post by Ruldra »

I played this some time ago, but for the life of me I can't remember the name anymore. Maybe somebody can help?

It's a side-scrolling platform game where you control a guy similar to Indiana Jones and you go explore some ruins. You press up + button to fire your gun, and down + button to set a bomb.

This game is what you'd call platform hell. It kills you in so many cheap ways it's hilarious. Spikes coming out of nowhere, platforms moving away to kill you etc.

Any ideas?

Are you sure it was an arcade game? It sounds exactly like Rick Dangerous, which appeared on a number of home platforms including the Amiga, except RD was a flick-screener, not a scroller.

Whoa, that was fast, yes it's Rick Dangerous! Thanks!

I played a flash version of this, and I recalled the author saying it was an arcade game. Apparently I was wrong on that part.

Wow, this game's so cheap! Who came up with it, anyway?

Rick Dangerous is a series of two platform games released by Core Design (the makers of Tomb Raider)

Oh.

Okay, now I'm looking for ANOTHER arcade game...

This one is a beat-em-up, and you can choose from 3 characters. One of them is a blonde guy who wear blue clothes and on his winning pose, he pulls out a knife and comb his hair. The other one is a black guy with sunglasses, and the other one I don't remember. The plot was just to save some girl.

This one is pretty old. Before 1995 at least.

Ideas?

This game feels like one of those super mario remakes that is made just to frustrate you. Yet I keep playing it.

You know, I have a bit of a backstory with Violent Storm...

When you beat the game, the girl will come out and hug one of the players - the one who dealt the killing blow to the final boss. Me and my brother finished the game, but he was the one who got the girl in the end. I was pissed, because I played much better than him. I was 9 back then.

Years later, I was at the arcades and saw a kid playing this game...and he was fighting the final boss. I stood there for a while, and pumped in a credit ("let me help you!"). I made sure to deal the killing blow, and the girl ran right into my arms. At this point, the kid looked at me shocked and pissed at the same time, but I just walked away with a grin on my face.

Talk about being a jerk, lol.

I remember jumping in on the end of TMNT w/ some dude. That was kinda fun. I think I did the same on Pit Fighter. Oh, man, Pit Fighter! I freaking bought the PCB for that game, I love it so much (it's HUGE, too!). "Come on Punk!" *belly smash*

Pit Fighter can be fun when you're in the mood for it. What other fighting game lets you rack up the Brutality Bonus for ground hits? This is one game that doesn't really get enough credit, probably due to some lackluster home ports (*cough* SNES, Amiga).
Kinect? KIN NOT.
