Alright, I've completed the game with all three ships and I must say I really like it.

There's a tad bit too much fan service in it for my taste, although the new versions of old bosses are kinda neat. (It's cool how the Gargoyle bosses from TFIII and TFIV are combined.) I'd rather have liked more original stages than re-imaginations of old themes. Especially the last stage is a bit anticlimactic, as the TFV stage it refers to has never been a favourite of mine. The last boss also seems totally out of place and has never the thrilling quality the fight against Guardian in TFV had (or the last boss of TFIV for that matter). Not having a music track matching the brilliance of "Justice Ray Pt. 2" probably plays a role, too.

Now, here's a question: I don't care about the story line much, but why can't I play the last stage with the Phoenix, getting the Syrinx's weapon set instead? Is it possessed or something? I want my super-powerful Wave, dammit!

Speaking of the Syrinx: What's the point of that? It sucks! The game has clearly been designed with the Phoenix in mind, with the Rynex-R being dfferent enough to make for an interseting variation. But the Syrinx is basically just a Phoenix with worse weaponry. I don't get it.

gets a 6/10 from me.. considering how long its been since gradius V, and how far down the line the PS2's life is, where all its technicalities have been pretty much mastered I really expected better.. everything across the board is "standard" at best... and the soundtrack is cringe inducingly weak.

the graphics are pretty sloppy, and slowdown occurs on weapons with more poly's and transparencies, and THAT definitely isn't intentional, try it on the last boss for the best example...

good idea that you get a whole new soundtrack with the rynex-R, does that mean each ship has its own OST? I wonder if others are better?

weird idea using mongolian for the speech...

Rynex-R and Syrinx have the same soundtracks.

ah well... I was hoping they'd all be different, that would have been interesting..

that squealy synthesizer on stage 4 of the rynex soundtrack makes my ears bleed... BAD choice of sound!!

D... your right about 480p and TF6 on a PS3. it doesn't work, that's very annoying.

I have my PS2 going through a XRGB, I don't want to have to swap cables every time I want to play it 480p.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Just played for my first time and I'm in love.

From my initial experience I can't understand why anyone would nay-say this game.

I'm blown away. My flame for shmups may have just been reignited.

Thank God for pcsx2 and it's ability to high res stuff.

Holy shit.

It's really nice to hear someone inspired by TFVI. I bought this when it was new and still have a sealed copy.
And you're right in so many ways- visually it's beautiful (almost as beautiful as Gradius V even!) and it really honours the Thunder Force heritage in a creative way with all that Mongolian etc.
The gameplay's nice too except I found the stages to be frustratingly short but my real critiscism was the ridiculous, clumsy, awkward bosses from that stupid robot chicken in Stage 1 onwards which really dampened my enthusiasm for the game.
But we're playing these for FUN (which sometimes gets forgotten) so it's great that it's bringing so much enjoyment :D

TF6 is fun as hell. It's pure adrenaline from beginning to end. The game really takes off after you unlock the red ship. I know it's popular to hate on this game and i know it aint perfect but I can't see how anyone can HATE on such a solid sidescroller full of eye candy.

It definitely looks better than that new Suda 51 game and is more fun than Progear (which I really like) in my opinion.

Circuitface if you like TF6 try Soldner X 2. Very cool underrated game with fun gameplay great visuals and badass soundtrack.

I completed my first 'serious' run today (not just admiring the scenery & awesome soundtrack) and earned the Rynex. I found the game to be quite easy, but welcome this since it seems like they just wanted to work you up to piloting the Rynex which is obviously the more technical craft. I absolutely love how they've merged the storylines from the originals & V. The whole thing just comes off as truly epic. I'm hooking this up to my projector and playing on the side of my house soon.

Edit - I've completed the game with all three ships now and after having discovered the double-tap I must say that increasing the difficulty is an absolute must. I can't believe how ridiculously easy the bosses are when utilizing this feature. I'm jumping straight into Maniac tomorrow and hoping to earn the Neo mode. I feel the developers spoiled us on the meat of the game by having it hold our wittle hands by default. No biggy, but it's a damn shame they would feel the need to sissyfi it so as to not scare off new players.
