@ The Coop
Very nice first! Very traditional jet design.
@ Dpful
Awesome dude! That pink pilot area is nicely offset by the red body.
@themachinist
Looks pretty good. Especially for a first try. You might consider not dithering such a small piece though.
Everyone is doing so well! Nice to see so many stylish ships. Remember that the Xenocide files are the biggest single resource of traditional art you have to study. Don't rip though-create your own work. Really good so far. I was expecting less but you are all chipping in and doing some great progress here. The more you study older games the better feel for shading you will get and the more you will grow. Anyone can be an artist really you just have to keep focusing on what you like in a sprite.

No, this game is not Space Invaders.

The Xenocide files are where all the shmups are listed lol. Main site for this forum. Not a tutorial site at all.

WOW some of the new ones are pretty epic!
Now for a huge ass gameboy enemy. I wanted it to look like something from one of those junk levels where the enemies have gotten desperate. 4 colors,( 2 gray + black and white).

Really? I was actually aiming a bit at Marc Coleman's style. Maybe I should play Thunder Dragon 2 and see for myself.

I've had this one my system for quite a while, and have used it as an avatar from time to time.
I wanted to go for a clean, 8-bit look. I think it would look good in an NES or Gameboy Color game.
Also, the flame effect is very simple, it's only two frames, one with flames and one without, set to a very high speed.

4 colors in first state, 3 in the darker state. it's not even totally finished yet. the extra grey shades aren't used, just the darkest. I may replace those with a flame and eye color set later.
EDIT: OKAY DONE

That's pretty cool, but what is it supposed to be? A rusty post-apoc 1950s retro future flying car? The style also reminds me of the cab from the Fifth Element.

well, I'm working on something where the player is flying over a highway in the first section of a level, so there's normal cars, then there's these things. that 'turned' frame is actually a skidding frame for use with the regular cars, as well as the fake ones that lift off and fight.
There's also a really vague cyberpunk 1930s/40s deal going on, so I looked at some shit from the era, and that sort of car came up.

No no it looks like a blue Raymoo-- it needs to shoot ying-yang orbs and homing amulets and persuasion needles right?
