Problem using ps2 controllers on PC?

Post by Pixel_Outlaw »

Recently it has come top my attention that I can't use PS2 controllers on the PC without the analog sticks not working properly.

I'm using a Radio Shack ps to usb adaptor and a normal ps controller. I'm using joy2key for the keyboard emulation.I think the problem might be joy2key but I'm not sure. Does anyone else have problems with the ship sometimes moving even after you have released a button?
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Dual Box Pro does that too, but it has its own driver.
That gets solved by pushing the analog stick (didn't know it was a button too) as a "reset position" measure, but I'm not sure if it'll work for you.

please tell me you arent using a dual shock analog stick to play shmups?

and the issue is more than likely a result of a shitty converter(radioshack)

super joybox pro has no problems...but it has its own drivers and stuff, so windows recognizes it as a controller and you can adjust everything

i would sell you mine but i havent the faintest idea where i put the drivers disc....its a floppy

havent used it since i got my first cab pretty much.....other than for meets.....

I tried a few before getting the Mayflash Super Joy Box 3 pro (1 slot ps2 -`pc)

and its lightyears ahead of all the rest, the driver is great and lets you adjust everything and unlike the others(which had as much as 48ms added delay) it has pretty much no delay and if you also raise your usb poll rate(I also had one that seemed to work on an internal clock so changing poll rate didnt influence it), its as good as it gets.

I've used it with my hrap2 and dualshock2 for 2 years and it still works perfectly.

I'll just mention that while the homepage is a shadow of its former self, Xpadder shits all over joy2key.

I think the controller pictures can be downloaded in the forum now.

I think I am using the same adaptor.

It's not just the ship continuing to move after you release the button, it moves after you press the button (not exactly when you press). EVERYTHING is laggy. And that's why I don't run emulators on PC anymore.

based my experience, original controllers (sony brand) tend to work better with PS2-USB converters than say.. Hori's or Madcatz (god hope no one uses those), etc... i remember trying to use my Hori SoulCali2 stick (with modded buttans), but i get a bit of lag when it comes to button presses... though using a regular dual shock, works like a charm...

some guy i know who mods sticks say its probably a pcb issue or something... well, his custom stick (made from dual shock 2 parts), works fine.
