I'll be saving that $355 for Ketsui Extra, DOJ BL Extra, Death Smiles, and 2 more games. I'm so glad I had gotten that Ketsui full kit sooner- purchased late in 2003, it cost closer to $600 shipped. The $1000 is a bit too high.

If the Otomedius stick bundle price were closer to $200 (i.e. the combined cost of Street Fighter IV and the SFIV Premium Arcade Stick), I'd have been tempted.

I wouldn't have minded seeing an alternate package with just a touchpad included- this would probably have been nearer $120 instead, and a good deal if you already have a stick for 360.

Is the touchscreen/right analog stick essential to game play?
I have this game in transit right now and am excited to play, but economic hardships have made it tough so I was unable to get the stick bundle

I cannot stand the 360 dpad
If I can play with out the functions of touchscreen, I have plan to use my current stick for playing this game.
Gorgeous mode doesn't have any touchscreen functions.

For arcade mode...the only touchscreen gameplay is if you do a full burst, so if you only do short bursts then it'll be fine. I think you might need to use the touchscreen to select levels too, so you might need to swap out, or maybe there's a way to choose levels using normal controls?
Thank You for informations! :D
I had been waiting to learn of these news. I wish I could have got the stick as it look very nice but financials are at critical levels and my job situation is in dire straits…

I am very looking forward to playing this during holiday! (should be here no later than Friday, possible Wednesday…

The stick is huge. It's roughly the same size and weight as the 360 itself. The touch pad sensitivity is rather high, and makes it kinda awkward to use efficiently. During a full burst attack, I can normally line up one, possibly two of the reticles before the attack initiates.

Going through Gorgeous Mode is an easy 600 gamer points... although the second loop is nasty.

Weight is a good sign. Sounds a lot like a Virtua Stick High Grade.

I've had a couple of quick goes on it and I've got to say that I'm distinctly unimpressed, possibly even pissed off that I laid down money on it. I *love* the Parodius series, but this doesn't have half the detail or charm of those games.

Movement speed feels off - either too sluggish or too responsive, never quite right. I can't figure out where the hitbox is. The visuals are pretty bland and it's too difficult to tell, on some levels, which bits of the furniture can kill you and which can't.

I'm kind of depressed by it, actually. It feels a bit shoddy, overall. If I'd bought the stick bundle - not that I ever would have - I'd currently be feeling really annoyed.

There's absolutely no English in the menus, btw, so making your way through the options could be a case of trial and error for many.

May I ask what were your feelings about Thunder Force VI? Just in general overall… Many folks hated TFVI but I am in love with it and enjoy playing it very much.

I am just trying to make sure that I will be happy with my purchase. As it looks I will have to wait until Friday to play  I am so poor that I cannot afford speedy shipping and it does not look like it will arrive tomorrow.

I've honestly not put enough time into TFVI to make much of a judgement, but my general impression of it was that it was fun, if a bit shallow. Certainly not as negative as my feelings towards this are.

It might be that I'm being a bit down on it because it's been a bit of a shitty day in other ways, but it's defnitely a disappointment. It just lacks all of the zing and life of the Parodius games.

Take the third level in Gorgeous mode, for example. It's got the single dullest opening stretch out of any Gradius-alike that I've played - really basic repeeating patterns of those materialising spinner things, interspersed with enemies that fly in from the right but are so easy to deal with that you've killed them all before they appear on the screen. And this repeats for what feels like two or three minutes - it probably isn't that long, but it feels as though it is, because it's so boring - while the background is a green field with absolutely nothing in it.

The whole thing feels pointless. It fails to do anything new with the formula and it's got all the atmosphere of a mediocre fan project.

You can normally tell if a game's going to grow on you, because even if it pisses you off you'll still find yourself drawn back to it by something that you can't put your finger on. With Otomedius, though, the only reason I can think of for bothering to play it again is that I've paid for it.

Thank you for your impressions. :D

I am confident that I will still enjoy it so long as the touch screen features are non essential. I am know to have very odd taste and also to find enjoyment in most games.

It has been a long while since I had got new games as times are hard and TFVI and Otomedius are the latest games I've got and hope to squeeze maximum enjoyment from them. I just hope it can make it here tomorrow but I have doubts and will have to wait until Friday

I just got OG today and it's not bad. The full burst attack isn't a real problem to do using RS.

Earning new weapon choices (as in Ghost Squad) over time is a good thing. After using Aoba for a bit, I had unlocked Double L2 and L3 as well as some 2 way missile.

Hopefully Konami hasn't backed out on Gradius VI and we'll still see that eventually. In gameplay, this does feel a bit of a teaser for a new HD Gradius or Salamander.

So.. does Gorgeous mode loop indefinitely... or is it limited... cause the game actually refers to loop 2 stage 1 as stage 7.

HILARIOUS button layout. It's like a Neogeo and a HRAP had a lovechild which was born with scoliosis.

I've heard that GTA IV was not working right when installed on the HD so I was wondering if Otomedius had a similar issue.

My copy arrived this morning, did anyone get a little Otomedius card with theirs? It looks like some sort of game content scratchcard?

It includes the code to download the Anoa schoolgirl outfit. There ought to be a mini manga behind the instruction manual as well.

The joystick also included a package of badges/buttons featuring the same images that are on the stick's faceplate.

There are a handful of games that either don't perform well when installed or won't install at all, though it's a pretty small number.

Has someone made a list of them yet? Granted I've only tried, what, 3 games so far, but they've all worked. I only have enough room left for a single game at a time, unless I pay some ridiculous price for a 360 HDD.

Originally saw the list of games here, though a previous post mentioned that installing Halo 3 actually makes it run slower. As of now it's only a few confirmed titles, hopefully it stays that way - especially when it comes to obscure import stuff like we indulge ourselves in here.

This has grown on me a little, although it's ridiculously easy in Gorgeous mode and a lot of the things I pointed out as faults yesterday... well, I still think they're faults now, it's just that they're not quite the killers I made them out to be.

The music is awfully bland, though.

Original mode suffers a glaring presentational error. At least, it does on my television. The powerups list at the bottom of the screen is only half-visible - those items in the list that appear in the upper part are visible, but those in the lower part run off the bottom of the screen. And as far as I can tell, there's no way to alter the screen settings. Can anybody confirm?

There's a zoom function in the Options menu. Crank it down to zoom the image out a bit.

Seems to given that the leaderboards has people on their 4th loop.

What's your guys top score in original? Can't seem to get much more over a mil.

I don't like the scoring in the game. There's almost no reward for trying to destroy an obscure enemy, and even no-missing levels will only get you more experience, which you would have gotten anyways.

Managed to get through expert beach level with only one miss yesterday, so I guess the expert levels are at some point doable. There is also an 'ultimate' mode apparently unlocked at high levels though few people on the leaderboards have used it to their advantage so far.

[03:48] <+Megalixir> otomedius could have been better
[03:48] <+Megalixir> i think the
[03:48] <+Megalixir> kicking you out of a game because it fails to join and puts you back at the title screen which forces you to log into your character and select weapons and select custom match and find a match
[03:48] <+Megalixir> thing is a bad idea
[03:49] <+Megalixir> it could've just said "failed to join" and you just refresh but oh no let's not do that
[03:49] <+Megalixir> let's be difficult

Apart from this I don't mind the game at all, although it's a bit lacking in general. Also, this game wins no awards for having a hitbox that works.

Where *is* the hitbox, anyway? I'll be fucked if I can figure it out.
