I just won on yahoo a pcb with the same issue. Any help to source the required parts is welcome. I'm located in Belgium. Thanks guys!

that crap gets me mad!

I bought 2 replacement chips off ebay. Desoldered the pcb timekeeper, put a socket on... And I still get the same error even with the two remplacement chips.

With no chips on I get RTC Device Error at 35D.

With a chip on I get RTC checksum error - factory settings.

Could it be possible that the remplacement chips I got are faulty (or that battery went flat with time on those?)

I have the same (socket and 2 or three chips), and I've discovered that sometimes it will give me the error (the factory settings one) and then if I wiggle and readjust the jamma connector board, it solves the problem-- so the batteries must not be draining so fast.. It works after that. It's happened to be maybe three times.

The fact that it changes indicates that the PCB sees the device :D

Is this the message that you get ?

RTC CHECKSUM ERROR!

SET TO ALL FACTORY SETTINGS

PRESS TEST SWITCH TO CONTINUE

If so what happens when you press the test switch ? Do
you get to the screen where you adjust the clock ?

There is a test switch on the "front" PCB in case you do
not have one mapped on your setup.

Yeah precisely! It gets to the screen where it asks for time difference, and time / date settings. If I setup the info, the game works. But it gives back the error once I shut off the cab... Like if the internal battery was flat :(

Could someone try my rams maybe? I'd pay for the time put into that. Or maybe someone has a good known ram?

Thanks

Ok just done it... That was precisely what I thought, the nos rams had flat batteries!

I drilled one of these, and put a CPS2 type battery there. Now working!!! :)

Thanks for your time rtw & dpful!

I was going to ask you to check the production date but I see there
is no need for this now :D

Got a picture of the mod ?
