Good old Casino!
I think I know the exact tramp.

The day I met Skykid, my wife was filming as she needed some atmosphere footage for some thing she was working on as she works in telly. She filmed me and Skykid playing two-player Progear (Ridiculous in itself) and that tramp asked "are you making a porno?".

That is how good me and Skykid look when we play shooters! The rest of you make it look like a natural history program.
HA HA HA! ROFL!
That actually made me piss myself!

Did he actually say that?! Ha Ha!

Honest to god - every time my wife has been down to Casino that guy has been there, and that's the reason Mrs. Spadgy thinks Casino is full of creepy oddballs.

Whereas in fact, us lot should be the reason

Already thoughts about shmupmeets? Time flies! I guess it won't be too long beofr e we need a minimeet in celebration of the arcade's new arrival, and was it March this year we did our full size proper shmupmeet? I guess that's not too far of coming round again. What are people's thoughts?

Finally, CHI, a pleasure to meet you mate. Honestly, I can't believe I got a Progear 1CC (only my third I think) with mr_m0nks just before you came in, and then when I play in front of you I get downed for good by the level two boss. Embarrassing! I think that just shows how Cave games go...

Actually, I'm starting to have a feeling that it's more how Progear goes than anything else... (!)

It seems strange there’s no kind of hurry to get this in from the Casino side. I was going to pick up a older Cave board to donate while I was in G-Front and I'm kind of glad I didn't :x

I might not make tomorrow this time around I'm afraid. I'm going to pop in today in the afternoon though, as I'm in town.

Oh, and m0nks - my mate at Bethesda is 'seeing what he can do', so hold off for now!

I emailed John the Boss at Electrocoin last night, advising him about the MMP board and installation. I'll be down friday night and probably some of Sat & Sun too - with the board.

So far John and Bob have not been around on the days I've been down.

My wife gives Lips the thumbs up, and the fact you can import your own songs means it's a lot of fun (even though it doesn't have lyrics for songs from your own music collection), and personally, getting to do Meat Loaf's eight and a half minute Paradise By The Dashboard Light, was reason enough to have to review it!

Honestly, and easy Christmas present that will go down well if your girlfriend squealed at the mere mention.

Heh, the pub me and my mates used to go to when we were 18 used to end every Friday night with that song and the girls we were with used to go crazy to that. Brings back good memories :D

"Let me sleep on it! Baby baby, let me sleep on it!"

I can't get enough of that tune. I met Meat Loaf once and he was lovely, for the brief time I spent all nervous telling him about how much I love Bat out of hell.

Anyway, upped my Progear hi-score today. In fact, out of three credits I only got the one 1CC, but evrytime I got to the boss with well over 11 mil, when usually I'm just under.

Spent some time talking crap with Craig too. He has to be one of the nicest people in London.

You should learn the scoring spots in the first two levels spadgy, it'll really boost your score if you can nail the stage 1 plane streams (though maybe the first isn't possible in the US version) and train stream on stage 2.

I managed to do both of those and 1cc it in Hey! and was pretty smug about it until the scoretable came up and someone had done a 2-ALL and not even thought it worth entering their name :)

I might be down on Saturday, depends if my Super-Gun comes on Friday or not... I'll definately make an effort when MMP finally makes its way there.

cool, MMP is great, it also saves highscores which is nice for local competitions sake :D

Ah, sweetabix, hopefully it'll inspire a bit of friendly competition. I know if Progear saved scores it'd be quite communal now.

Heh, Mushi does that too but the one in Casino is bugged - last I checked Maniac's 2nd position score is higher than the one in 1st and I'm on the Ultra scoretable, doing pretty darn well, desite never playing it :)

you guys should really get a mushi futari board, saves highscores (both alltime and todays so theres always something to write ;) ), besides its an AMAZING game that i think would go down well with the shooter lot at the casino, has different difficulty levels aswell which should draw attention from allkinds of players (from noobs to hardcore mofos).

maybe you could pool together and get one or something?

I really need to do that, as I never try either. Problem with practicing with real money in the cab - it feels a bit of a gamble, and I can see myself spending £20 just getting the technique right with my slow progress!

Time for crap MacMAME maybe.

And Sven666, I'd love us to get futari in, and pooling in cash is a nice idea, but I feel a few of us would get a lot more out of the deal than others...

For now, we rely on the generosity of players lending boards.

Yeah, pooling for something is a good idea. I remember Futari Black Label was uber-expensive but that was the complete package. However maybe it's still a bit much for an inital venture and the place only has one vertical sit-down cabinet (which will get MMP).

Though Futari was heaps of fun, especially God Mode, maybe the original Death Smiles after its price hits rock-bottom in Jan would be a better option. Horizontal, nice presentation, pretty darn accessible and saves scores... JP 360 release may remove some people, but Ibara and Mushi both had PS2 versions as well. MBL was much better of course, but unbelievably expensive and most Casino goers aren’t going to use level 999 or visit the optional stages...

I read some other poster here in Toronto lends his boards to a local arcade and takes a small cut in the money it makes. Does ill6 get anything out of this? Would suggesting this provoke more board loans from people (a few of us have boards but don't want to throw them in a random London basement) and be ultimately profitable to Casino in the process?

The owner is Greek. Lends go in for free and thats it.
For info see Watto the Greek Alien store owner in Star Wars EP1

EDIT:- I saw the Boss's son last night and he says the PORK installation will be fine. I might get it installed today.

Taylor, do you really think Death Smiles will hit rock bottom prices in Jan?

If so, I'd better start saving for it. What's rock bottom though - like Ibara PCB prices?
