I didn't predict that I'd get 30 million tacked onto my score for the extra lives. Heh.

Amazing, man. You're so close to 300 million. That was a huge barrier and goal for me. Keep going!

How is a 10,000,000 and some score after the first stage? Is that decent?

EDIT: Arrange mode

Hm, really?

Okay, thanks. Looks like I have to figure something else out.

Oh, and I'm not using Rapid, that is wayyy too complicated for me.

Rapid fire doesn't help you score in Arrange mode.

Hm. My stage 4 performance is pretty good, and I'm doing some more effective techniques than AST-KOT's (thanks man, this replay has aided me a bunch) st. 4 run on youtube. Capitlizing on the 'invincible' enemies at the top of the screen has been very lucrative. I think I scored almost 80 million on the stage alone at some point, keeping a chain around 60,000 during the long serpent dragon dudes. I think it's possible to maintain at like 80,000 if chained right.

Surprisingly, I'm not getting too frustrated with the game, but man, St. 3 is so delicate for chaining! Right now I'm aiming to earn more than a 100 mil from the stage, preferably enough to get to 200,000mil totall by the end of the stage. I've implemented fast C on the big shells when their weak, is there any slow a tapping needed to be done there? (I'm playing Maniac, no rapid) Still a bit of scoring technique to be learned here if I'm going to get 160 some mil or whatever for that stage alone.

I'm beginning to grasp how the two huge shells shoot those streams of bullets, but that's usually where I bite it. And my St. 5 still needs a bit of work, but surviving the midboss isnt a big problem anymore.

200 million is my average score at the end of stage 3. Beside the tail segment at the beginning, the big shells are the key to jacking your counter up during the stage. The rest of the stage is mostly just keeping your counter where it's at while you rack up points.

My strategy for the first shell is to position myself so that my rightmost option is on top of it and slow tap A until it's backed all the way into the bottom right corner, and then start fast tapping C right on top of it while dodging its last few streams. I usually aim for a counter of 60,000+ here.

The second shell is very similar, positioning my left option on top of the shell and slow tapping A until it's in the bottom left, and then fast tapping C before it dies.

I use a lot of C tapping in between and after the shells to keep my counter where it's at while delaying the on-screen enemies as long as possible so I never run out of things to be shooting at. It took me a long time to learn how to keep my counter up in the segment after the second shell up to the vertebrae just before the head.

You mean fast C after the slow A on the huge shells right? I started trying out the Slow A technique on the shells and I notice the difference already. At this moment I just need a little more practice on surviving untill the huge shells' last burst of bullets in order to maintain the biggie counter. But I'm well on my way to scoring better on that stage. Once I hone these st. 3 techniques I'll be looking at a 400mil score, maybe!!!

I'm having a hard time getting the counter above 50,000 after the first big shell, and it's really starting to annoy me. I can begin the shell with a counter of 25,000 which is good but I don't seem to get as big of a bonus when I do the fast C at the end of the shell... on average I end up with 42-44K counter. Maybe I have to tap the button faster... or begin the fast C sooner. This part is

Yeah. It's tough. On a good day I can get it up to 60-something at that part, but I also have trouble sometimes. It's tough, because in order to really get the counter up at the very end, you need to actually get right on top of the shell, but it's tough because you're very close to the origin of the bullet streams. I can't even count the number of times I've died there trying to get too close. It's very precise, that's for sure. 40-50 isn't bad, though, if you can keep it up until the next shell. Keep going. Practice makes perfect. ;]

I wasn't going to bump this for such a mediocre score, but since it's here:

Maniac, no rapid

CStarFlare - 112,713,663 - Stage 5 - PCB

The farthest I've ever gotten in Stage 5 as well as my highest score. The best part is that I accidentally killed the head early in Stage 3, so I missed the extend on this run.

If a picture is necessary I'll have to learn how to take photos off of my DSi.

Haven't played it for over a year; played in the London Casino; "adorably" hopeless stick.
Died once in Stage 5 midboss; managed to no miss no bomb the rest of the stage with the counter staying between 40,000 - 50,000; Mushi made me realise how dry, haughty and lordly Muchi is.

Looking forward to saying farewell to Muchi.

Awesome score, man. I suck so bad at this game after a long hiatus. Did you seriously make that score on only two plays?

I got the score on my 5th or 6th credit of the day. I got 310 million on the first credit.

This game is all about memorising - position of the enemies, stop slow A-tapping and start fast C-tapping after laser counters reach a certain level (you never forget how to get high score, as you never forget how to swim after not swimming for ten years). My shmup skill is now better after being tortured by Futari, which is a harder game. (I haven't played it for more than 6 months.)
