GameWorks

Post by lilmanjs »

so they are thinking of putting one in Kansas City(I live 20 mins from there) and I was wondering has anyone been to one lately? I went years ago and they had a whole huge section for shmups but I was a little kid at the time. if they do get one put in would it be worth going to?

GameWorks could be renamed "GimmickGameWorks", or simply "Works." These places are shit. They are simply bad bar-style restaurants with a few gimmicky arcade games thrown in. To make it worse, they use this godawful card system rather than coins, in an attempt to make you less aware of how ridiculously priced they are. If you want to spend $1.25 per credit on "Cabela's Real Hunting Experience" or "Ultimate Bass Fishing" then Works is for you, if not, don't even waste your gas on the drive over there. I have never seen a shmup in these places, beside maybe Galaga in their bullshit "retro" corner that is all dusty and unused due to the fact that no one wants to pay a dollar to play a single credit of Ms. Pac Man, and would rather save their cash for a plate of cold nachos.

I do remember that gameworks was just a video game thing and had no food that I could remember. but then again they could have changed in over 10 years though. still I remember playing some raiden there and had a blast.

There's always the possibility of finding Raiden, but, in that regard, you're probably better off trying your luck at a pizza restaurant or roller-skating rink.
