Lumines is now on Steam

Post by Neon »

y'know I liked Rez at first but it hasn't done it for me with subsequent plays

Lumines is pretty fun so far though. 15 bucks for it plus the 'advanced pack' is maybe a bit much but what the hell. I just bought it after playing the demo.

Any of you noobs into this game at all

Yeah, very cool game. I have the original on the PSP. I like how extremely simple the concept is, yet how complex actually pulling it off can be. Other games like Puyo Pop or Tetris Attack are way to "strategic" for me. Lumines has much more zone-out appeal.

I've played enough Tetris Attack now where I can "zone out" and still make 11 and 12 chains left and right, that still does it for me. I don't know if I'd get the same feeling from Lumines ever, it's more about the music and stuff.

Tetris Attack
Strategic
 Huh? TA is all about reflexes and quick thinking. I agree on puyo pop, though. I just stink at it, and no-one will play against me.

What does this version of Lumines have that the others don't?

I played the original a lot when the PSP was first released in North America, and my sister is still pretty into Lumines Plus on PS2.

Evidently there exists a playing style of very deterministically placing each kind of block. I haven't really tried it but supposedly it is extremely effective, but I wonder if it might take a bit out of the fun once it is mastered.
