President Obama

Post by tommyb »

Obama won by almost DOUBLE the electoral college votes McCain had.

Take that, old-timer!

Absolute shame about the crowd, they were incredibly rude. McCain's speech was very well presented, though.

I can't wait to hear Obama's.

the crowd was quite disturbing. that sentiment is echoes all across America, no doubt. The past 8+ years have culminated towards a very divisive atmosphere among the rank 'n file.
McCain, was a class act in the end, though. And a shining first step towards healing, and hopefully coming together.

California seems poised to pass Proposition 8 "Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry"

Al Franken seems in a tough race, might not win :C

Ditto for local guy Mark Schauer who is in a tough battle against Tim "YEAH I AM FUNDED BY THEM" Wahlberg for a Congressional seat

56 senate seats and only 4 undecided - Dems will have to get them all.

My thoughts:
-I just won a $20 bet/gimme.
-Obama's crowd was pretty polite in watching McCain's concession though.
-Another class act by McCain. I feel sorry for the old man; too bad his views got twisted by the neocons so much after his spotlight in 2000.
-Thanks go to Hillary for staying in the primaries long enough for Obama to identify positions of support in NC and other previously unknown reddish states.
-Now, blacks ought to see they have all the opportunity in the world and that the prejudices that exist don't overcome natural charisma.
-I hope some lunatic/terrorist doesn't try something nasty against Obama or else the situation will be very, very messy.
-If the bailout plan ends the current credit crisis, Obama will be hailed as a savior.
-I'm predicting that families over ~$100k still getting taxed sometime during Obama's term despite his figure at $250k.
-Barring a crisis, I don't see Obama's presidency really affecting me much one way or another.
-We'll need to have a woman in the Oval Office sometime soon.

And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.

Medical Marijuana is now legal in Michigan.

If only Tupac and Biggie were still alive. Weed legal in Detroit and a black president =P

Anyway, McCain gave a nice speech, which was unfortunately dotted by a rather ungracious crowd. Meanwhile, the Obama crowd was considerably more gracious to McCain as he conceded. Certainly is a reflection of how things are at the moment between the two camps, and really, a reflection of how each campaign was (mostly) run. Obama's campaign went after McCain's policies more often than not, and McCain's campaign went after Obama more often than not. That difference was pretty clear in the two crowds.

Looks like here pretty much everyone I voted for lost, and we're getting a huge sales tax increase for worthless mass transit projects. I suppose I better get an early start before all the good cardboard boxes are taken...
