Off topic, but ToE was released in the US for PSX as Tales of Destiny 2 (though the Japanese PS2 game called ToD2 has never seen release anywhere else). Not sure if you meant you were never going to get ToE with english dialogue, or just that you would likely not get ToE for PSP with english...

Just got the game today and so far I'm very pleased on how well it turned out. I got a quick question for those of you with the game, does your Akkanvader slowdown when in TATE mode?

I haven't tried to tate it... I didn't realize this game had that feature. Neat. I don't like the way the PSP feels when holding it on its side though, so I won't use it... it's nice that it's included though.

I ordered it online from NCS for $40 (not including S&H).

My thoughts too. I'll have to take a run to my local one to check out the scene. I called the local import store today and the guy had never heard of Space Invaders Pocket and had no idea if they would be stocking it any time soon.

Come on U.S. publishers! Don't wait for the Christmas season! Get those PSP games out here!

Ugh... isn't that the truth. For US releases, I think there's a strong possibility that Hot Shots Golf is the ONLY non-launch day title I'll be buying in the first six months of PSP's US life. The first six months for DS was bad, but PSP isn't any better (and is arguably WORSE). But don't you just know that October-November, we're going to be swamped with games. US publishers are getting so boneheaded about forcing their products into the Christmas retail period. Truly hurts a lot of good games - look at Viewtiful Joe 2 buried under the heaps of big name new releases in 2004.

As for Fry's - I saw imports there too. Used to be just a few mahjong games, but now they have a healthy selection - I noticed the Namco collection, Space Invaders, and Bleach today. However, they're ridiculously high priced. It's far cheaper to use a reputable online importer like NCS. I can get Space Invaders for $40 + shipping from them, and $60 + 8.25% California sales tax from Fry's. If it was $10 more per game at Fry's, it might be worth it to not have to deal with shipping. As it is though, they're priced a bit too high. (Can't complain about new release US game prices though - Fry's is THE place for those, with $5-$12 off for most bigger name games for the first week).

Ouch, $60 is sort of silly for that game, though unfortunately that is sort of the going rate for most import PSP games. The import shop by me had Kollon for that much too. Just silly. I'd maybe pick it up for $30-$35.

well, the psp stuff is the first time ive seen imports there i think. i read about them carrying the psp imports before, i forget whether its at all locations or just a few (i go to the fountain valley, ca one). either way, $60 is way too much for me to get a psp game.

and the psp drought is about the same as the ds one. theres been about a game a month ive wanted for ds since launch, not huge games or anything, but ive been satisfied. psp has its few highlights depending on what type of stuff youre looking for, so i consider it similar in that respect, but it seems to have more games coming at least, whether youre interested in them or not. like ds had a complete drought, compared to psp at least having releases at all.

At the very least, Nintendo has had a slow drip of game releases. Wario Ware was nice, then Yoshi's Touch & Go, Polarium, and Kirby soon. At least there are a few solid non-launch titles in the first half year. PSP has absolutely nothing in the US with a set release date that interests me. Like I said, Hot Shots Golf is the only non-launch title (among those released AND those with an announced release in the next 3 months) that I think is any good. On the other hand, there are a couple nice Japanese PSP releases. Space Invaders Pocket, then Sengoku Cannon in July...

I don't doubt that both portables will have much better game lineups in late 2005 into 2006, but it seems to me that these systems are being forced onto the market too early without any software support ready for the first 6 months. I'm getting the same impression from the impending Xbox 360 launch. Seems to be a trend in the industry

ds had a nice e3 showing at least. a bunch of games only have placeholder dates for now though, a shitload in november specifically. a bunch in the 4th quarter basically. sorta annoying if they do all come out so close to each other. screenshot blowout of some upcoming stuff on post #12: http://forums.gaming-age.com/showthread.php?t=47948
