Just buy a copy of the game and save it until PS4 comes out, or the PS3 is dirt cheap. Don't you realize how AMAZING a shmup could look on a next-gen system?

edit: can't believe I said this once upon a time

kengou wrote:I love V even though I'm terrible at it, but why oh why does VI have to be on the PS3...it's a shmup, it's not like the graphics are going to matter whatsoever. Why not release it on the Wii, much larger install base and it'll be cheaper to develop, plus with all the shmups on the Virtual Console people might be more willing to try it out. It's not exactly much like Geometry Wars...
Stop worrying; VI for the PS3 hasn't even been confirmed yet. I don't think we'll know for sure until TGS, and even that event may not yield any info.

Last night was the UK Sony 'party' to celebrate 1,000,000 PS3 sales, and I struck up a conversation with the very nice, enthusiastic and kindly head of Konami UK/Ireland Peter Stone.

Of course, like a eager child I pressed him on Gradius VI. Was it ever going to come out on any format, and would it see a PAL release?

He just smiled and shrugged. Didn't utter a word.

Well... it wasn't a no! And he knew his stuff about Gradius in general...

That said, it wasn't anything like a yes. So nothing to this post really I guess...

My guess would be that the guy hadn't the faintest idea what Gradius is.

Oops, I overlooked that part. Anyway, it's not like Japanese companies are known for informing their foreign subsidiaries well, and since Konami UK has nothing to do with Gradius VI it's not really surprising he knew nothing.

Interesting. Well, since the game hasn't officially been canceled, I just wonder when we'll hear news about it-TGS '07 didn't provide anything. Maybe E3 or TGS '08?

Gradius 6 will be a third person shooter. There will be 65 player online and you can rub ripplesaws together.

Yes, and smiled an shrugged his shoulders, which I took the liberty of translating as "knew nothing".

read the body language maaaan, its clear the game will have 6 stages, 5 loops and 3 TLBs at the end of those loops, itll also have a progear-like scoring system.

To be fair he had worked for Konami for 24 years, and heads up the Austrailian and NZ Konami as well, and he was very passionate and knowing. He was also really keen (and, I admit, surprised) to hear about the size and passion of UK shmup scene, and took great interest in the London shmup meet this weekend.

I couldn't say his smile was loaded with meaning or not, but he did take great interest in if I thought there was a UK market for the game.

I said no fucking way... we all hate it...

(Of course I didn't. I really tried to convey there's passion for the game)

I will buy a PS3 if there is quadruple jumping.

And I will jump my way to the core, and thusly shoot it.

I read that Solid Snake uses the Vic Viper to destroy Metal Gear at the end of Guns Of the Patriots. You use Sixaxis to control the movement of the ship and shake it like a wii mote to fire your weapon. And when you beat Metal Gear 4 you unlock Gradius VI. And when you beat Gradius VI you unlock Vic Viper Skateboarding with Dance Dance Revolution music.

I'm actually slightly surprised Konami hasn't put out an Airforce Delta-esque game of the series. With Vic Viper as an unlockable, like it was in Airforce Delta Strike.

I got excited for a second..... for G6 news and all. Oh well back to hoping/waiting.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
