Customer service advice needed...
So I want to buy a new non-Mac laptop and the models I've narrowed down for the final are from Lenovo, HP, Samsung, Sony, Asus, and Acer. As I've built all PCs to date by myself, I've no clue about the quality of those manufacturers' customer service. Lenovo was actually my first choice... until I read the first horror-stories. Any experiences from the trenches are very welcome!

I have always bought Dell and found them to be excellent - but only if you buy as a small business user (home users can usually do this). That way you get 3 year on site warranty which is excellent. I have had personally a Latitude X1 and Latitude D430. My work laptops are D430 and a Precision M2300 but previous to that I have a Precision M50, Latitude D420, Inspiron 9200). They are all excellent. Parts are cheap and wideley available on ebay for when the warranty expires. Only thing I have ever had go wrong with a dell laptop is the hard disk.
Well worth having a look at Dell Latitudes (and Precisions is they aren;t too expensive).

Just poppin in here to say I have a dell 700m that I bought in fall of 2004 and it's still kickin after heavy daily use (I'm using it right now). Sorry I can't say much about their customer service from my own experience because I've had no issues to call them about. But like the dude before me said it's been easy to install hardware on my dell.
My friend bought a dell the same time I did and also got the 3 year extended full whatever warranty. His died two years in and they gave him a newer model to replace it because the older model was phased out. So that might say something about their service?
