I mostly drink beer, but less and less. At parties when I want to get intentionally drunk I choose Vodka, very effective and if you don´t like being drunk you just have to wait a couple of hours and it´s gone.

And it´s been years and years since I last drank some nice Whiskey, that´s something I really want to drink sometime again. But it has to be in the right setting.

I pretty much hate everything mixed or sugary. I prefer pure stuff, and when it´s too disgusting to drink it without anything else it´s not worth drinking it at all. And don´t even get me started on stuff like Vodka-Red Bull. Alcohol plus sugar plus caffeine = hell.

But then I just go back, andI gess people call that binging, which isalso appearently a problem, so i don't know...
Right. Personally I think binging is a lot less healthy then my 1-3 beers a day, but I'm trying to be realistic in saying that since I do it almost constantly, it should be called a problem.

I wonder though how many people here drink much more heavily then me and do not consider it a problem.

Yeah, in your case I would say it's more of a mental problem more than anything that's really physically bad for you. Kind of like somebody who wastes too much time playing video games or watching tv or whatever. You're obviously not going to get cirrhosis from a few beers a day. It's really good that you can recognize it as a problem though, no matter how small... I don't know how it is in the rest of the world, but where I'm from most young college students think it's absolutely impossible for a person under 28 or so to be an alcoholic because it takes so long for real health problems to manifest and getting fucking wasted all of the time is just what you do when you're at that point in your life. Really stupid way of rationalizing it, but yeah...

Once a week I'll drink whiskey sours and/or beer with my friends (not always to the point of being drunk, however). And then every once in a while I'll sip at a glass of Grand Marnier for an evening while reading or something.

I don't drink much either. However, I don't have a problem with people who do as long as they are responsible.

It can't stand the weird cracked out buzz you get from drinking these. They also tend to give people laser breath to the worst degree. Call me a pansy but I still think vodka goes best with a little cranberry juice. :)

I finally tried Duvel. It was good, but I don't like the style of beer. I still have two bottles left, though, so I want to try it again. I was kind of put off by the carbonation the first time, now I know what to expect.
I just finished off my last two Duvels. It's definitely a good beer, but I still prefer my stouts and IPAs. Glad I tried it, though.

Does a bottle of this always open like a bottle of champagne? All four bottles foamed like crazy as soon as I opened them (on my lap the first time, that was a surprise). And it's not like I shook it or anything.

Duvel's okay...bottle fermented belgian ales usually will "pop" like champagne. Lots of yeast in there....tasty, tasty yeast.

Belgian beer is my weakness, stronger the better. Trappists are the Cave PCBs of beer. Killed a couple Maredsous 8's and a Westmalle Dubbel last night with some fish n chips. Slept quite well.

On a night out I drink jagermeisters and ale (black sheep, hobgoblin, etc). At house parties I usualy drink white russians or scotch whisky (jonnie walker etc) with the odd can of bitter (john smiths usualy). At home I sometimes have a bottle of lager or two (sol, corona, cobra, etc) with a meal, especialy if I'm having a curry or something and have guests. Very occationaly I'll sip on a white russian or scotch in the evening when unwinding if its been a rough day.

Hobgoblin is tasty. Scotch whiskey is awesome. I prefer the blended or american whiskey though. Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey FTW! Plus, winter's comin'....good whiskey weather.

I've never drunk alcohol just to enjoy the flavour or whatever, any time I'm drinking it, I just want to get piss ass drunk after.

This is why I hardly drink on weekdays, save it for the weekend then go crazy. ooer, I think I'm a binge drinker.

I have a friend who comes around and only has two beers at weekends for a slight buzz, I always show him whos boss by getting as drunk as possible.

awesome.

That's a yes, but I drink less than I smoke.

To those teetotalers: I felt the same way about marijuana -- about the moral/philosophical objection to ingesting any chemical that would alter the way I was thinking. I liked to think that I at least had control of my thoughts, if little else. But I realized one day just how many chemicals do affect our state of mind that are completely beyond our control and started to experiment. The funny thing is that I hadn't considered alcohol a 'drug' at all, even though I knew technically it is one and had drunk moderately with family for years. Trying some other things made me understand how these chemicals are related, what their effects are -- and made me more aware of other external factors that altered my mood or mindset.

I don't mean to change any one's mind, that's just my experience of having never seen any reason why I'd want to intoxicate myself, until I gave it a shot -- and felt things I never had before.

I think the next drug poll should be about caffeine. If there's any one chemical I am truly addicted to and have a real problem with, it's caffeine. Not that I don't love it. I love it too much...

Sam Adams, Victory, and Scotch. Sometimes a Guinness. I suck at games when I drink, except Tekken.

I drink twice a week. Once to get quite hammered, and once to get a little buzz going. I am starting to not like the hangovers and "why the fuck did I say that? I'm fucking stupid" thoughts the former give.
