Buying KETSUI PCB and Vogatek Mk3 + JROK encoder

Ok, I have been playing the cave shooters on Ps2 for a bit now, just got KETSUI DS, loved it, so it was time to step up to a REAL PCB. So I ordered a Ketsui PCB from Fujita :) I also ordered a Vogatek MkIII from ebay and I am ordering a JROK encoder today too.

My question is .... on the JROK site it says to solder the video convertor inputs to supergun/jamma via Red to top pin 12, green to bottom pin 12, blue to top pin 13, sync to bottom pin 13, ground to top pin 14 ... then red power to top pin 3 +5V , black to ground top pin 1

the vogatek guy told me to solder the same for the video input but for the power he told me to solder to pin 4 instead of pin 3 (it seems they are both +5V)

who is right? are they both right? if not which is the right way to set this up.

This Ketsui PCB is my first PCB and it cost me 1000$ and I dont wanna fry it.

also do i just plug some computer speakers into the headphone jack on the vogatek ?

also i just use a PSU from a PC to power this whole contraption right?

has anyone tried this CGA/RGB to VGA convertor ? http://www.jammaboards.com/store/acv-01 ... d_252.html
I may want to eventually hook Ketsui up to my NEC multisync...

tbh i would spend a bit more money and get a good SG that uses a better PSU(ideally an arcade one)....PC PSU's are often dodgy when it comes to arcade voltages....

i have heard ok things about the vogatek setups....but its a cheap solution....

you just spent $1000 on ketsui....why skimp on the supergun?

whats the best place to get a supergun ? i dont want to spend too much , i already have a joystick ( X-Gaming Twin stick modded with Semitsu Ls-32 and happ competition convex buttons w/cherry microswitches) so buying a Sigma Raijin or MAS with a joystick is pointless.

your best bet is to post a WTB(want to buy) thread in the sales sections....you will more than likely be able to score a nice one for under $300...and most are wired with db-15 connectors(like neo geo) so if your stick is wired like that it will work fine....otherwise just mod the wiring to a db-15 connector and you should be fine

sorry...i dont mean to sound condescending, but it just strikes me as odd that you were willing to throw down $1000 for your first PCB, but your concerned about spending money on an SG.....

believe me....with superguns, quality matters....and the vogatek is a budget model....

i know what you mean, its just i didnt have much more than 1000 bucks to get the PCB and supergun ... i plan on buying a nice one --- just needed something quick and cheap for the moment (i couldnt have the ketsui PCB sitting here without playing it) till i sell my Ps2 and cave ps2 games ... i plan on getting a sigma supergun.

that makes more sense....this would be a perfect 'temporary fix' then....

also.... i hate you....ketsui having so and so :wink: :lol:

i hope to have mine in the next month or so....

well I'm building a vogatek supergun (basically already built just waiting on the vogatek thing) so I can tell you once that arrives. I've seen lots of pictures of it being used on games and it seems to work fine. If you are capable of building yourself a supergun you can get excellent quality for very cheap (mine's costing me roughly 100$). But...that requires a lot of building and ideas. Also one thing I suggest is if you go with a cheap supergun setup....build some way to fasten the supergun to the pcb. And you might also want to look into building a protective case for your pcb. I bought myself arcade pcb mounting feet and I'm just bolting my boards into a tupperware container. I picked up a couple of 5$ computer fans and I'm just bolting one in the side of each pcb container to keep some sort of airflow. And I plan on installing my vogatek in some sort of container and then I'll simply bolt the vogatek and pcb containers together. This way if I accidentally jerk the controller wire the jamma port won't move around and risk frying my board.
