Ed Oscuro - P1 Side - Stage 3 - 584,550

First time to reach the second boss, too (bombed my way through).

Did great until the big choppers in Stage 3 started coming up from behind. They didn't get me, but the formation of little planes coming from the top left sniped me (I pushed too far up the screen).

Woo, nearly doubled my old highscore. Hooray!

Ed Oscuro - P1 Side - Stage 3 - 791,440

 !!!

Staying alive and continuing to collect fully leveled long medals @ 10K a piece = beat my old score before I started Stage 3 :D

Thanks dude. Yea its the same stealth bomber on level 1, 2 and 3. He never attacks differently just the same fireball pattern, never got any harder from what I could tell. On lvl 2 I defeated him and he didn't drop a 50k item but on lvl 1 and 3 he did.

To make sure we're on the same page I'm talking about this guy.

Since he is definitely on the 1st 3 levels I'm sure he appears on every level.

Aha! I knew it, HE gives you a 50K bonus. I was only getting another bomber from the boss, even when I bombed those... bombs. I haven't been able to trigger him, but now I know what to do.

Too many "bombs" in that sentence.

Although we should be posting in the strategy thread, here's a quick stage1 rundown:

First 50K: Shoot/bomb the letters (it's possible to just shoot them all with P1 ship, but very hard - you should get it consistently when bombing, be sure to strafe so your widest shots just touch the far letters and then double back. On stage 2 your reward is a bomb, so it's probably not worthwhile to bomb - just work on getting an extra bomb for your stock)

Second 50K: Shoot down all the cluster bombers. Tricky because sometimes they turn away too quickly, and sometimes they seem to disappear off the screen when they've actually been shot.

Third 50K: Immediately after the 50K from the bombers appears, strafe to the left of the screen, shoot all the baddies, strafe right and shoot, then shoot across the screen quickly to get everybody. If ships just blow up by themselves, you didn't do it right and the boss is next. This can be tricky because the two hidden stacking bar medals can interfere with shooting at these enemies.

This game doesn't seem too hard lol

I don't have a real run yet since I'm doing savestate practice, but everything's pretty easy to learn.

also, the letters are easy if you start left and strafe back and forth across the entire screen

For the first one, just waste a bomb. You get bombs almost as much as Mahou here.

I don't know if this board is still updated, but here's what I got while practicing this game last week for STGT08:

Had a very nice run here. First time into Stage 4 and past 900k, and I made it all the way to the boss. No-missed to the Stage 3 boss, and I see what you're talking about with the rank getting vicious. The slight bomb delay is pretty annoying, and has contributed to many of my deaths.

Are there any extends in this game?

Not that I'm aware of, having played to the end a few times. But to be honest I haven't a clue.

That's PCB + auto, for those who might be interested.

First time to stage 5 and it was killer.

Emulation issue most likely. There's no delay with the PCB.

I Would have had a much bigger score if I could have gotten a bomb off at the beginning of 4.

Bomb spamming seems to be heavily rewarded in this game.

Yeah, you get a ton of bombs and there isn't much incentive to not use them. A couple bombs can make most bosses go down without a fight, too. Glad to see someone else getting into this game.
