Saw V opens nationwide on the silver screen October 24, 2008. What is Jigsaw up to with his usual bag of ol' tricks and traps that await his unsuspecting victims? And are you gonna see it?

I only saw the second release. These movies aren't all that great cause they're not scary and you can assume everyone involved is going to die some horrible death. I'm not a fan of horror movies to begin with though... I have no intention of catching this one or any of the other releases.

Yep, Saw IV came out on the big screen back in October of 2007. In some ways, Saw IV flip-flopped through out the various past Saw films to tell about how the character, Jigsaw, came to be in showing events that take place before the first Saw film -- sort of a prequel if you will. I was wondering how it was going to play out since the turn of events that take place at the conclusion of Saw III lead me to think that was the final swansong for the trilogy of Saw films. Man, was I wrong. Apparently, Jigsaw is up to his tricks again. ^_~

Not really interested in gore porn. I don't mind exploitation films per se but I find more recent examples a little dull.

I saw Saw 1 once. I was pretty drunk, but all I can remember is someone shouting as the camera spun around his head for an hour and a half. How that can be extended to five sodding films I will never know.

Me and some friends watched the first one but kept destroying any semblance of tension by leaning in an whispering 'I'm too old for this shit' whenever Glover made an appearance. Childish but entertaining.

Miike's film of Audition was like a nice and slow walk in the park and slowly the viewer is subject to unspeakable horrors and unbearable suffering of one man. A man who just wants to get to know a gal but she has other ulterior motives for him. Who do you trust? The quaint looking gal who really is cruel and sadistic...and how did she become that way?
Miike has a way of using twists and spins in his films so that what you may think is going along one way, it really is doing a 180 on you by going in the opposite direction...one that you hadn't anticipated or foresaw. The viewer has, in essence, been taken for one heck of a roller coaster ride. ^_~

The first movie was completely overrated. I can't imagine sitting through the sequels. Die franchise die.

And will Saw V be the very last one? Don't count on it. The first Saw was unique & novel with it's use of contraptions and devices to try to get out of in a certain time limit but with a catch. The victim can choose to either live or die depending on the circumstances of the situation. Either way, it still doesn't fare out too well. And Jigsaw still has the upper hand regardless of the victim's decision to play by the rules or not. ^_~

I saw this box set of all 4 Saw films in Zavvi a few weeks back. There was a button you could push to make a circular saw spin round. It looked pretty dangerous.

I know why people watch porn, but I can´t understand why people watch these splatter movies. Suspense, yes, gore - no. I makes me shudder to think that people actually enjoy this.

What I find pretty amusing is it seems they know they're really pushing their luck on this one. In the trailer I saw, they really do say: "for the last time...", i.e., don't worry, we won't bother you again next Halloween.

The first movie was pretty entertaining. I saw the second and regretted it.

I just read a Cliff's Notes about it...owwwww...interesting that this guy did Happiness of the Katakuris, since I just saw a student give a copy of it on loan back to one of my professors...I'll have to ask him about this one, but I won't watch it.

well the first one was ... ok. not good, not extremely bad, but ok.

You know how the horror film business is, they primariy make them for the fans to see, and if they don't patronize them, they won't make more. That's the way how it is. ^_~

KNB is famous for their use of special effects like in Hostel and Hostel II which pushes the usage of body parts to the max.

Even famed makeup artist Rob Bottin admitted that he likes the usage of CGI in Hollywood horror films. It has been said that Mr. Bottin was only 20 when he was working on John Carpenter's The Thing remake circa 1982. There has never been another horror/sci-fi film that eclipses the magic and wild special effects showcase shown in "The Thing". Mr. Bottin said that they were told to go "all out" with new ideas for a totally organic and constantly evolving alien creature -- he mentioned that one guy had a crazy idea of having a man's ribcage open up like a set of teeth and close on somebody's arms...that idea was one of the famous key scenes used in the film. ^_~

It has been confirmed that both Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures are set to film Saw VI which is slated for an October 2009 theaterical release. ^_~

I finally checked out Saw V today and it's the usual with the back and forth in the various past Saw films that Jigsaw and company are up to no good this time around. The official tagline "You won't believe what happens at the end" rings very true... ^_~

Some cool horror films to be looking forward to are:

My Bloody Valentine 3D which is premiring on the big screen in January of 2009. And it's in 3D with a pair of 3D glasses included in the movie ticket purchase.

From producer Michael Bay and the director of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, comes the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th. It is slated to screen on the big screen on Friday the 13th, 2009. Jason is back. ^_~

i sooo much hope this will also finally lend to the release of the uncut original on DVD !!!

and this is although [hint to Lordstar] critically, My Bloody Valentine has mostly a negative reception amongst critics. on Rotten Tomatoes it ranks with a 0% rating with an average rating of 3.4/10.

Saw 5? I never got into the whole humanoid hack and slash thing...pfft. My idea of a scary flick would be something like a sci-fi horror thing, like Aliens...something along that line.

I like horror movie. I like gore movies. I fucking hate the Saw movies. Hostel aswell. I will admit I only watched the first two but that was more than enough.

Edit: Friday the 13th remake? Bleh. I wish they would just stop remaking all these films. It is almost always the case that the original is awesome and the remake is utter shit. Only exception i can think of is The Hills Have Eyes. The original and the remake were both good. The new Dawn of the Dead was decent but it was not a remake, it merely shared its name with a classic horror film and the similarities pretty much stopped there...except for the setting.

Never understood the appeal of these movies, are people that sick and twisted?

I'm not surprised at all for all the sequels. Horror movies tend to suffer from some major from of sequelitis.
