STGT 2008 - Week #5 Voting REASONS

Post by sikraiken »

Sorry about not getting these up quickly. Here are the last voting reasons for STGT 2008!

Progear
------------

The other games are not funny.

Progear has always been my favourite Cave game, despite being a hori. The scoring system is just amazingly satisfying to me, and really seperates those who are happy with a 1cc with those who dare to dream of greatness~~ Also it'll probably win just by merit of being a cave game although i would be pretty happy playing battle garegga too!! there will be serious ownage if we play progear, this much I Can Guarantee.

Its scoring system is underappreciated. Also, I want TCACTRM to win more than I want namakoteam to.

I wanna touch it!

(My rough translation:)
The enemy is destroyed. The bullet is destroyed. The jewel level was raised.
The enemy is destroyed. The bullet is destroyed. The diamond was made. Finished!

Progear is a very cool shooting game to play. [Taikai?]

Progear is the only game we have a chance to compete. If this isn't picked, we're screwed.

I'm voting PROGEAR, because it's fucking awesome, one of the best games ever made.

Because everyone and their mothers will vote for Cave. Probably the only one whose scoring system doesn't feel like a big pile of shitting mess despite being so damn strict. Trade jewels and rings like the Venice merchant, enjoy the retro-tech scenery and get screwed all over past Stage 4, all in the same package! AND IT HAS LOLI.

I just love everything about this game, and it's one I actually
1CC'd (US Version). My favourite shmup ever!

Among this all games, Progear I played more. Battle Garegga is very hard game and have a crazy score system. I like Raiden Fighters Jet, but I prefer Progear to this fifth week.

Hey sik
uh
stgt has vaporized a vital portion of my head
Image
Can we play good games next year?

The lesser of three evils.

Team (doesn't have taste)

Want to play a hori during the tournament.

Part team vote, part it's the only game of the three I like.

I suck at all 3 so I picked the one with cute girls. Rivet <3 <3 <3

I vote for Progear because of ACTIVATING DIAMOND VACUUM

Because the score system is less bad than the other two, and actually is a good game even if brings Cave logo on it and the shit score system.

I've played and enjoyed Battle Garegga a lot, and I've gotten to play Raiden Fighters Jet a decent number of times as well. Both are fun, and BG would even let me play on my replacement Saturn that I only just recently picked up. However, I've only played Progear a few times, and I'd like the chance to delve into it more. Frankly, I wouldn't have a problem with any of the games winning, but I'm going to choose Progear in hopes of finally getting to really take a crack at it.

Because like the other weeks, it's for personal gain.

I have an ok score on this game already so the week won't be too difficult.

Battle Garegga
------------

I sux at last week's game. ps you're all gay

My only desire to make Twiddle happy. I know it's impossible to achieve, so my desire will always remain unfulfilled :'(

Revenge on everyone who voted for 19XX, Rayforce and nomltest

wind pissing go go go

I'm voting for this because I won't have to emulate it.

Battle Garegga, because Kiken won't play the other two.

because it is the best game

fuc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALMYlerZRb0

because i like dying.

it's not as homosexual as I first thought.

I just can't wait to hear the whining. "I can't see the bullets!" "Whaddya mean I can't pick up every power up!" "I don't know how to stop shooting!" "I don't wanna suicide!" "Waaaaaaaaaaaaah!" "Who the hell voted for this game!" Me, that's who.

Because it's like Batrider without the optional bosses, because it's the easiest for me to understand, and because dying doesn't directly take away from your score.

I vote for Battle Garegga because it's a very nice game, even if the scoring
system is stupid and shitty.

I really don't like the game, but that's teamvoting for you.

as always, i must vote for the game with the best music. i'm better at progear and am practicing it a lot, but i think it's going to win anyway and garegga is also a fantastic game. i'm glad we're teamvoting so i don't actually have to decide between them.

I think Progear's going to win, but I prefer Battle Garegga. I also like Progear, but not quite as much. Frankly, I really don't mind if either Progear or Battle Garegga win. I like Progear and Battle Garegga rougly the same amount. But I like Battle Garegga a bit more than Progear.

Team SDA POWAH!

I am a big fan of Raizing. This is one of my favorite games of all time. Must vote for me.

RFJ won't win and we all suck at Progear.

Raizing >>> Cave.

I can't run rfjet, and I'll probably play Progear enough on my
own. I think I'd be happy enough with either one, actually.

Raiden Fighters Jet
------------

Seibu > Raizing also wtf Progear come on and I'm pretty sure you can't change the rank and Miclus stuff in RFAces to match the U.S. version so hey let's play the real deal instead

for next week 5 i will be voting for RFJet, reason cos its one of my personal favorites. Progear a close second due to i really want to learn this game. Battle Garegga: i have no idea how to play this!

It boiled down to me being good at this game, and not the others. Nya!

Don't want Progear, so we're voting for this.

You can play a fairy.

It's probably the game I've played least of the three and I just got the 360 version so it's about time I learned it.

Just because.

There's nothing really like this game that I've found, even among the other Raiden Fighters games- it's fast and rewarding (also the one my team is very good at)

While I agree you chose exceptional ones to laugh at, basically all of these are funny. Except mine, it's just lame.

In conclusion, fuck everyone who voted for Progear. Yes I know this is my best week, but I still hate all of you.

Except moozooh.

Battle garegga is a good game and pretty much the only game that wins out against it in my mind is progear, so it's a bit of a shame for raizing this year.

Everybody should've voted TD2 and forced a totally different choice.

I don't think I'm going to scrape enough of giving a fuck out of my depths to even contribute a score this round. The Suffering is pretty bad, but...

Battle Garegga would've been the ultimate game to end the STGT '09.
But nevertheless I quite enjoyed playing Progear, eventhough dying isn't as satisfying as it is in Battle Garegga.

Oh shit BHMKII's sweeping vulcan, I'm dead!!!!!111 Let's pretend it was strategic suicide!!

Hmmm, I don't know. I think there would have been Viper Phase One levels of complaining if it had been picked.
Although it would have been amusing removing the ST thread for the week, and watching the chaos unfold.

I've yet to observe an instance where the amount of actual complaining about Garegga is greater than the pre-emptive complaining about the potential complaining about Garegga. :P

I think this is the real reason you like the game so much - the ability it gives you to enjoy the suffering of the uninitiated. ;)

That was more of a... passing comment. I'm not that evil. Sorta. :p
I personally would have liked Garegga to be voted in (even though I haven't played it for years), but it wouldn't have been so good for my team, in all honesty.

I find Garegga to be a lot more accessible than progear. There's the rank thing, and the bullets can be hard to see sometimes, but you get lots of bombs, and when the system clicks, you can get lots of extends to cover up your mistakes. Obviously, it becomes a very different ball game when playing it at a high level, but even a novice can just enjoy blasting things and still score an extend or two, as a mistake or two doesn't nessecerily destroy a run.

In progear, the scoring is so geared towards no bombing, that it gets frustrating. It seems illogical for a shooter to have an every extend feature and also have such an exponential scoring system. Good players get too many lives, while poor players such as myself are punished by playing for survival and get fewer. Forcing a player to play in such a harsh, regimented style is not fun. (I do like the satisfaction of bullet eating though, and the art style and music are bold and strange.)

I don't see why people seem to hold it in such high regard, especially when Ikeda himself views it as a failed experiment.

I dunno, I know there are a lot of Battle Garegga haters on these forums (I used to be one of them), but I thought it was generally liked. Hell, even I've grown rather fond of it.
