wanting to start buying arcade shooters.

Post by lilmanjs »

so after I get me a brand new pc from cyberpower pcs I'm thinking of buying stuff to make an arcade machine. how cheap can I go getting some good games and are there any sites that have the stuff I'd need at reasonable prices. and also does anyone know how much an arcade version of border down goes for?

You might want to get your feet wet with a simple and cheap-ass Supergun setup for right now. May I suggest picking up a MAK Supergun as they don't take alot of valuable real estate and are small and compact enough to tote around. ^_~

It would be cheaper to pick up the DC port of Border Down...but I see that you have your heart's desire on picking up the Naomi GD-Rom disc of BD + security chip. Plus you have to buy a Sega Naomi + GD-Rom drive and some other necessary items to get said Naomi game to run properly.

If you want to start out cheap with some basic arcade shmup PCBs, then my suggestion is to look for some 1980's Jamma PCB classics like Capcom's HyperDyne Sidearms PCB -- plan on spending about $40 to $50 for it. If you can find a cheap-ass Seibu Kaihatsu SP1 mobo and SP1 cartridge of Viper Phase 1 U.S.A. for about $20 to $50 is a great price to started off with. ^_~

I want an arcade version of border down because I have the DC port and I'd love to see the game in its full glory as the arcade version. thanks for the help and I can't wait to start getting some games.
EDIT: found border down for $208 new.

Like PC Engine Fan says, you'll also need about $300-400 worth of Naomi kit to play Border Down.
