The cave whore count in this thread is unbelievable!!!
I haven't made much use of my DS lately, but some of my recent and not-so-recent favorites:
-Meteos
-Ouendan (Elite Beat Agents is OK, but I much preferred Ouendan)
-Electroplankton (good luck finding it these days though)
-Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
-Planet Puzzle League
-Picross DS
-New Super Mario Bros
-The Castlevanias (haven't played Order of Ecclesia yet, but Dawn of Sorrow was pretty good and I also liked Portrait of Ruin, although the opinions on that one are definitely mixed.)

picross ds - totally awesome, but if you don't like the concept, not worth it at all
castlevania series - i've enjoyed all of them so far (haven't played the order of ecclesia). favorite out on the system is Dawn of Sorrow, but portrait of ruin was still fun
legend of zelda : phantom hourglass - had a good time with it, more fun than i thought it would be.
can't remember other ds games i've played. read into that what you will.

Nintendogs: The one with the dalmation on it. Trust me.
Animal Crossing goes hard in the streets also.

Trauma Center (I like 2 better so far, but I'm only on chapter 2)
Etrian Odyssey 2
Legend of Kage 2 (though it has been getting mixed reviews, I found it enjoyable due to the fast play style, combo system, and how it plays like classic Ninja games)
Space Invaders Extreme
Meteos
New Super Mario Bros
Contra 4
Elite Beat Agents
Ouendan
Phoenix Wright
Kirby Canvas Curse
Metroid Prime Pinball
Bangai-O Destruction Set (my nickname for Bangai-O Spirits)
Picross DS
Tetris DS (for multiplayer, Push is just too much fun)
Advance Wars Days of Ruin
Planet Puzzle League
Konami Classics Series: Arcade Hits
Namco Museum DS (very little that isn't elsewhere, but the games are still nice and it has some nice options like in game hints for Druaga or Xevious and odd stuff like simulating screen burn in Xevious. Pac-Man Vs. is good stuff too)
Pac 'n Roll
Sonic Rush
Sonic Rush Adventure
Castlevania Portrait of Ruin
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow
Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Hotel Dusk
Mario Kart DS
Etrian Odyssey 2

Mostly you'll be hearing an echo, but... It can't hurt, eh?
Meteos
Bangai-O Spirits
Professor Layton
Contra 4
Bomberman DS (if you have friends to play with... and don't have Saturn bomberman + multitaps)
Mario Kart
Puzzle Quest
Jump Ultimate Stars
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 1-2
Trauma Center
Castlevanias
Metroid Prime Pinball
Daigassou! Band Brothers 1-2
Etrian Odyssey 1-2
Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja (if you like Rogue-likes... This one got mixed reviews, but I loved it)
Sonic Rush (Adventure wasn't bad, but it's skippable. I really liked the first game though)
Sonic Chronicles: Drak Brotherhood (Surprisingly good)
Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Kirby: Canvas Curse
Kirby Superstar Ultra (if you don't have the SNES version, or if you REALLY loved Superstar)
Those are the ones that I feel are worth owning (and I own a fair bit more than that).

I know this is a shmups forum, but the only titles I regularly play on DS are:
Tetris DS
NDS_TGM
New Super Mario Bros.
Metroid Pinball
I also played Animal Crossing with my gf at the time for a while, but the game is intensely boring on your own. Most of the fun was in posting notes on the message board and doing things to the house, things which pretty much lose their purpose if there's nobody to notice them.
New Super Mario Bros. I consider as the single best title on DS, the difficulty is a bit low compared to the console titles, but it has massive replayability and it's just plain old fun.

Eff me, I forgot to mention Chou Soujuu Mecha MG! Anyone who hasn't tried this game, must. It's one of the funnest games I've played on the DS, and yet almost nobody knows about it.
Obviously it's an import only title, and the language barrier is moderate (you'll need a guide for part names, everything else you can figure out, and the story doesn't matter). But... I encourage everyone to check it out.

Same. Loving the style and the game design, easily one of my all-time favourite role-players. FFTA2 is also a good one to get for those long train journeys.LaserGun wrote:The World Ends With You is my favorite DS game, I didn't like it too much at first but it really grew on me and I've spent loads of time playing and enjoying it.
Easily the best game on the DS for me.
I'm kind of addicted to brain training games at the moment, and most of the regular games I like have already been mentioned in earlier posts.

*sigh* So much for not posting...
A good, small(ish) library of DS games that I'd recommend anyone who likes to shoot should have (somewhat in order of priority):
Bangai-O Spirits
Contra 4
Metal Slug 7
Space Invaders Extreme
Commando: Steel Disaster
(I don't know where all my DS games are, so I might be missing some)
For RPGs 'n stuff
FFTA2
Disgaea DS
FFIV
TWEWY (it makes me wanna puke, but lots of people love it)
Dragon Quest IV perhaps
Weird shit:
Elite Beat Agents (Ouendan in JP)
Feel the Magic XYXX
(I think I'm missing some here, too...)
Pure awesome
Tetris DS
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow
Castlevania Order of Ecclesia
Castlevania Portrait of Ruin (the weakest of the three)
However, the true potential of owning a DS (apart from perhaps the new DS STGs...they're GREAT) lies in its incredible backlog of GBA games. I'll post a list of some of the greats upon request, just please try to slim it down by genre (GREAT SRPGs in there) so I don't wreck my thumbs senselessly =) (Phone-posting/browsing sucks ^_^)
