Raiden Fans (Need Help)
OK, I need to make a choice. I like raiden up through DX. I Also like most cave games as well as raizing, etc. Having said that, which of the two raiden games on the 360 would you consider to be the better choice (taken the above into consideration)
I didn't play much raiden 3 as it just made me want to play other/better (imo) shooters. Maybe I didn't give it enough chance. And...for whatever reason, I never really did try the Fighters series (no particular reason) but I did like the demo on 360 but don't really know because it was very short / limited

Raiden Fighters Aces also allows you to map a button for instant restarts.
I have it mapped to the LB button on my arcade stick. I can easily reach it with my middle finger after a slight fuck up whilst playing RFJ.
When going for those 50million and 100million achievements that quick restart button will see alot of use!

I was also in the same boat trying to decide which Raiden title to get for the 360. I will get both eventually but I think I will opt for RFA first simply because its been out a bit longer and I would hate for it to go out of print.

Come on man, its friggin Walmart for chris sakes! That poor RFJ cab probably never saw any love.MOSQUITO FIGHTER wrote:I remember when they had Raiden Fighters Jet at the freaking Walmart here a few years ago. It was a sad day when they replaced it with that lame hunting game.

So true, I was only person who played it. It’s such a good game too.Jon wrote:Come on man, its friggin Walmart for chris sakes! Raiden 3 is old style shooter. If you like the old Raiden games it might be interesting. Ship moves a bit too slow for me though. It's nothing like the Raiden Fighters games. I don't like it nearly as much as Raiden DX either.lilmanjs wrote:the raiden fighters series is a must buy. I really like the second in the series a ton. never played raiden 3 and 4. are they worth getting?
Wanted to mention that I just downloaded the Raiden I soundtrack and it is full of awesome. Galbadia is a very cool website.

Haven't played IV yet but III's worth getting for its Double Mode; "slow" ships aren't an issue in that mode and the ships have modern, small hitboxes... You don't have dozens of ships to choose from; you take two, and that's all you need...lilmanjs wrote:(...) never played raiden 3 and 4. are they worth getting?

Honestly - the second you try Raiden III Double Play you realise that's what the game is all about. I think since I started Double Play, I've tried one credit of Solo, and while I liked it a lot before, after Double Play it just feels redundant...j^aws wrote:Haven't played IV yet but III's worth getting for its Double Mode; "slow" ships aren't an issue in that mode and the ships have modern, small hitboxes... ^^ Good to hear you enjoying that mode...
Maybe Moss could've made that mode the default and released it with Solo Mode hidden; attached some Border Down type story, but with *two* remote controlled, pilot-less planes being simultaneously navigated from some hidden base, by an uber-loli-mecha-droid; then perhaps Double Mode would've got more attention... Of course only 3 people would still play it, but everyone else would know what the game was about! :/

^^ You could try SRK and ask someone to build you a custom stick like that?
I personally got used to the dual analogue sticks from the DS2...
You'll hear people praise non-impact switching optical sticks, like Happ P360s, Sanwa Flashes and clones; or praising Suzo Inductives (induction) over microswitched sticks like Seimitsu LS-32s; but at the end of the day, analogue sticks have fast switching like the aforementioned non-impact types, but you lose tactile feedback (may or may not be important to you)...
