Looking for a pretty old shooter w/ knights and witches
I've been trying to find out which game this was for years but I never knew where to look. Considering how long many of you have apparently been playing games, I'm almost positive you can help me find this fucker.
It was a vertical shooter, right, and you were this knight. The game was similar in this respect to, say, DonPachi. Your knight can throw shit (your normal shot), and you could change the type of weapon if you picked up items. I think you could get swords, arrows, double arrows, and flaming arrows? The level's boss (there were a couple of different levels) was usually a witch.
I remember playing this game at some friend's mate's place at least 18 years ago, so it was a home console game. Don't remember the name of the console, though. You connected it to your tv and you could switch games/ cartridges. I think.
So, anyway, if you want to make me your bitch forever, tell me the name of the game and where to find it. Cheers.

Don't ask me, all I know is there was this dude and he had this game. I'll check out the other suggestions people have made in this thread, but I'm pretty sure that it was Knightmare. Also, the name somehow feels familiar, if you know what I mean...nimitz wrote:Yeah, Knightmare, a great Konami game
but i am wondering how someone could have played knightmare in the 80's in Germany![]()

Checked on youtube & it's definitely none of the above. The games you mention have totally different gameplays, I wouldn't mix them up.Ed Oscuro wrote:haxnimitz wrote:Yeah, Knightmare, a great Konami game

Or maybe it was Nightshade or Knight Lore and their neurons are playing trickses on them.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm sure it's Knightmare. This game looks a little like a sequel of sorts (although I understand it's a Square game... the first Final Fantasy game hadn't even been released at that time yet.... aaaaah the 80s, where the NES was considered the ultimate in home console gaming and Yie Ar Kung Fu was a feast for the senses).Zweihander wrote:King's Knight, for the NES? :/

Knightmare was released in 1986 (and presumably got a European release, or we'd be calling it Majou Densetsu), and MSX computers were sold in Germany.nimitz wrote:Yeah, Knightmare, a great Konami game

People here have helped me find a few games that I only vaguely remembered playing 20 years ago. Even if they aren't usually as "awesome" as I remembered.ChurchOfSolipsism wrote:No problem, thanks for trying to help me. I remember the time when we thought that NES games's graphics were so awesome that we copied them out of the Club Nintendo mags. We even reproduced the low resolution by using squared paper. Now those games look like shit to me (surprise, surprise). Almost the same with the gameplay. Oh hell, we all have to grow up some day... pass me the bong, please.escadrille wrote:People here have helped me find a few games that I only vaguely remembered playing 20 years ago.
