lol Famitsu, I'd say that's a pretty generous score since it's not the complete game and it's on the DS, can't wait to try it out.

I have a JP Wii, just plugged it in and updated the firmware. What a Hell do I need to do next? I have never heard of any DS demo app for Wii. So DS station is an actual physical kiosk for DS in Japan?

edit: Found it, downloaded it from my Wii, it's awesome.

hmmm

Controls feel clunky and I don't feel like I have the precise control over the ship that I need to navigate the bullets, esp. when stuff starts heating up.

I hope you can turn the chips off cos what with that, the small screen and my shots it makes it nearly impossible to see whats going on

30 mins later...

OK, I'm enjoying this a bit more now, it does take some getting used to though.

dudes, you don't need a jap wii.
you can convert your pal/us wii to jap with anyregionchanger (homebrewchanel needed), download the jap nintendo channel, play the demo.
easy as that.
... and of course you can change it back!
@mrtie: thanks for linking, but i presume those programs are for dumping actual cartridges. i have the demo floating here on my wii's wifi.

I don't suppose anyone here fluent in Japanese could be bothered to translate Famitsu's review? Pretty please? :)

A quick summary would be more than adequate.

I used anyregionchanger to change the shop channel code to Japan as well as the game region code. I downloaded the Nintendo Channel, but whenever I start it, I get a Wiiconnect24 error code 117404?

I am on firmware 3.2U and I did not change any other settings. When I loaded up anyregionchanger to go back to my original settings, it said my system menu was set to Japan...which I did not mess with.

What settings did you change exactly with anyregionchanger? I want to start over fresh and make sure everything is set up right.

Any ideas? I really want to play the Ketsui demo. Thanks a lot.

once you get used to playing with the big clicky direction pad, its actually kind of fun.

the game encouraging you to take big risks by getting right up in the bosses face for more points is just like that fat bully in school who used to encourage little kids to run across the road and try to dodge incoming traffic.

Set your language to Japanese, delete the save file and try again. In the end I switched everything over to Japanese, but I don't know if that's necessary.

Posted this on cave-stg, but here ya go.

Famitsu review gives Ketsui DS a 7886. Pretty good!

Edit: Read the review, the two 8s liked the fact that the game was customized for the DS, liked the advice corner and the game's new functions. Kizuna mode, whatever that is, seems to be popular. The 6 liked the game but said that the bullets and the multiplier chips tend to get in each others way. Also that having only one course for the game is a little lacking.

Edit 2: Mihara just updated and it looks like the Famitsu review is wrong on the number of courses there are. No surprise. There are at least three: Novice, Normal and Doom and you are rewarded for beating each one with new courses. Some of these courses are Hard Course A through C, Very Hard and Death Label. The Evac reports in the game basically function as achievements that you unlock. Apparently the DVD that comes with the title has the player exceeding 500 mil.

Download the update?...your original firmware? I tried using menuloader as well to trick my wii into loading the nintendo channel region free, but that did not work as well. Now I'm scared to convert everything to Japanese. I heard that if your system menu setting is set to a different country than the other settings, it will cause a semi brick (but anyregionchanger is supposed to warn you of this). *sigh*

Do you have a dump of the demo, or did you download it via wifi and put your ds to sleep?

Got it off wi-fi. As long as you don't turn the DS off (ie just close the lid) you can keep playing.

Just cleared it (3 loops) with 189,461,320

Got a 'now try the real version!' screen. I probably will.

Glad to hear you got it working. I think I may just wait for the release rather than keep messing with my Wii.

So wait, there's a demo of the DS version of Ketsui? As in there's a demo of the demo of the full game? Oh lolz. I'm surprised they don't want $10 in microtran$action$ for that alone, if the full demo costs $60. 8)

You know, in germany we have a saying like this:
"Halt doch einfach mal deine Fresse und machn Kopp zu, du olle Kackstelze."
Which roughly translates to "The One who accepts foreign opinions as well is a really wise guy" :P
