are you fscking serious? have you given the game a chance and played it or are you just biasing your opinion on other people's commentary?Twiddle wrote:fAlso worth watching doesn't count as worth playing, so MGS4 is out
MGS4 is by far a game worth playing on the PS3 that isn't multiplatform.
LBP is also quite charming, i've been in the beta and it was very fun. If you enjoy platformers (in general since the games can be all sorts when using the creator option) and dont mind finding yourself laughing at you and your friends failing at progressing a level

SOCOM is due out soon as well, the beta was pretty good, I'll guess that the full version will reclaim the user base of the old ps2 socom crowd for the new ps3 generation.
Resistance 2 looks very good, however I've not been in the beta yet so I cannot comment on it directly. The first person multiplayer shooters/maulers are coming out in full force it seems with Killzone2 and Legendary (at least i believe all three of these are first person)

seeing that every game is worth playing, i dont see your point.Twiddle wrote:the key phrase here is "worth playing" not "worth fucking around in"
i'm going to guess you are referring to MGS4 first, and say that each act has it's own unique gameplay mechanics. yes, you can treat the game with much more "fscking around in" mentality since you aren't on rails for progression, which is a welcome change and turns out to be quite entertaining as well as replayable (to a point.)
little big planet is all about "fscking around in," that's the whole idea of the game. from creating your own levels and playing them to revise them to play them.. etc etc... to just running around levels with your friends online for coop completion goodness, it's a charming experience. if you haven't smiled or laughed at a game in awhile i think you'll have a hard time not cracking an emotion while playing this.
SOCOM is multiplayer coop based tactical shooting, Legendary, Resistance, and Killzone2 are more straight forward first person bloodbaths. The last 1st person shooter i bothered with was UT so everyone each their own.
I didn't mention Disgaea 3 in the list prior, so if you're into that quirky series it's probably in the must have category for you, but don't expect it to wow you in the tech dept, as its basically the ps2 version with higher res images, but not sprites.

There is the little ditty that is Digital Polyphony's Gran Turismo HD demo and it does support both 1080i and 1080p formats. It even has support for the PS2 USB powered Driving Force force-feedback steering wheel setup. How cool is that? ^_~
Given that Digital Polyphony has dropped development of GT-HD in favor of further developing Gran Turismo V for the hard-core racing fans...it's a nice d/l to consider and it's free for the taking. Plus the fact that it really doesn't take that much space on the PS3's internal HDD storage medium. ^_~
There is the Gran Turismo V Prologue demo disc set to consider as well. Gives a sample taste of what is expected of GT-5 coming down the road for the PS3. Has built-in drivers to work with the new fangled Sony Dual Shock 3 controller from SCEI. The early PS3 console adopters that have the old Six-Axis controller standby works just fine with this Prologue demo.
PC Engine Fan X! ^_~

back on topic, Valkyria Chronicles looks pretty promising.
Seriously, though, the PS3 has lost exclusive after exclusive (latest one being Tekken 6). You don't buy a PS3 for exclusives - you buy it if you're afraid of a 360 blowing up.

You're arguing for a universe with fewer waffles in it. I'm prepared to call that cowardice.
This is looking less like a list of games and more like "let's play the MGS4 good or bad game"bay wrote:seeing that every game is worth playing, i dont see your point.Twiddle wrote:the key phrase here is "worth playing" not "worth fucking around in"
MGS isn't for everybody, let's move on.
SUPER IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Does PS3 have Achievements?!
Also 360 has makes you pay for Multiplayer in many games, LOLZ (maybe PS3 too, damn I love my PC at times like this).
There's the obvious MGS4, Uncharted, Resitances, Killzones, Motorstorms, etc. Of those not yet mention I also recommend:
wipEout HD - just pure awesome
F1 Championship Edition - if you like F1 it's the best sim on a console
Stardust HD
Everybodies Golf: World Tour - fun multi-player

:: SHMUP-DEV :: - what it says on the tin
Oh, also although not strictly ps3 exclusive since it was originaly a PS1 game I highly recommend anyone with a PS3 to get a couple more controllers, download Bishi-bashi, invite your mates around and tell them to bring beer or what ever other drugs best pleases them. Amazing fun

If you remove the cut scenes MGS4 is still a good game underneath, and the cut scenes are actually good fun. If every game was like it I would have an issue, but I enjoyed the MGS Experience. I would implore you to give it a go, but I’m not sure if that’s in the spirit of a troll thread.
There’s Wipeout HD, Super Stardust HD, Disgaea 3, Ratchet and Clank.
At a stretch you may also like: Folklore, Resistance, Heavenly Sword, The Last Guy, Motorstorm or PixelJunk: Eden. But it depends what you’re into.
And on the way there’s Little Big Planet, Yakuza 3, Yakuza: Kenzan!, Gran Turismo 5, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, SOCOM, Naruto, FFXIII: Versus (for now), Demons Souls, White Knight, and a few could-be-good titles being unveiled.
---
The PS3 has achievements, but most games don't support them and they're called something else. The online service is free (and you don't have to pay for wireless).

i can appreciate that people have opinions, now if the op was more along the lines of:
"what games would i, with my opinions and history with games of x y z, would i like?"
as opposed to a more open ended generalized:
"what games are worth playing on ps3 that aren't multiplatform?"
perhaps i'd start to agree. MGS4 is one of the only games for ps3 that really pushes the hardware (to whatever point that is now) and thus deserves to be in a list of this classification.
i agree, now look at the question posed in the OP and you move on.MGS isn't for everybody, let's move on.
also, i agree with Wipeout HD since i forgot to mention it cause I was just looking at box releases initially.
don't take this douche's bait.... let him play uncharted as his number 1 reason for owning a PS3.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Fighting looks unimproved (this is where they should focus instead of host clubs and UFO Catcher). Doesn't look a single step above the PS2 games in any way. Why do the character models still look like they're from Shenmue? They should just make a movie.Jonathan Ingram wrote: The exclusive to end all exclusives: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/41289.html

Also, @ bay - I would argue that MGS4, Uncharted and, to a lesser extent, Heavenly Sword, are all games that I have played on the PS3 that showcase the technical prowess of the system. I didn't even like Uncharted, I quit with 30% completion, but the audio and visual aspects of the game are second to none. Unfortunately, technical achievements don't require that the game is enjoyable to just anyone.jpj wrote:I'm Alec wrote:wow, what a childish op. i was going to post a serious response, but why bother.

Armored Core 4
Ridge Racer 7
Time Crisis 4
I personally got a PS3 because:
A. They were clearing out the Emotion Engine models (even though I never plan on playing a PS1/2 game on the laggy PS3)
B. Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire was available on the system
C. The 360 had (and still has) shitty heat dissipation, leading to stuff overheating and then failing
