PSX to USB Adapter issues

Post by CSBrokaw »

Well, I guess I won't be MAMEan until A. I buy a new one or B. I figure out how to fix the damned thing.

OK, here's the rundown:

I've had this Radioshack PSX to USB adapter since 2004, and it hasn't crapped out on me until a month ago. Everytime I plug it into the USB port now, it gives me this message:
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.
I tried everything. Plugging into a different port, using someone else's computer, but nothing. What have I not done at this point or do you think it's fried and dead?

Radio Shack, since 2004, used to work, fiddly little device with no mechanical points of failure...I don't imagine you can fix the device outside of replacing it.

Try it on a different machine and see if it works. If it doesn't, it's probably just busted.

Good news: It's a cheap part and will be easily replaced. That's Radio Shack for ya - easy come, easy go, easy come again.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. RIP doing anything good or fun with emulators :(

2004-2008

If anyone can recommend a better adapter, it would be nice.

Anything stopping you from getting a 360 pad? Fully compatible with XP and Vista for shure.

Seriously? Awesome! My brother already has two controllers, I could probably bum one off him.

But...he only has wireless. Any links to how to get your stuff set up?
