By the way, I like the banner for this week. I'm going to snipe the typeface idea used in the banner for an actual workable typeface concept, lol. Now where did I put Fontlab 5? :P

The sound emulation is bad enough for me that I have to turn off sound completely when I play RFJ. The end of stage music in particular is very piercing, annoying, abnoxious, and absurdly loud. It sounds sped up if anything though, not slower. Also distorted or something, I dunno, it just sounds really bad.

Is it normal in RFJ when it says "Simulation" missions?

That pretty much describes it even without possible emulation errors. RFJ music is horrible.

Rupert H wrote:Can we use the 360 version of RFJ on Raiden Fighters Aces? I know there's an option to change Raiden Fighters to Gundogs, which I had assumed to be the US version. Is that correct or am I horribly confused? :?
Gun Dogs was the prototype/development name for Raiden Fighters. The option in Raiden Fighters Aces just changes the title screen graphic.

I see... thanks for that.

So are we definitely saying US version only because of the second loop then? Pity there's no option for that in Aces.

I don't buy that at all. Half the fun is in risking it all going for the miclii.

Learning isn't hard. Trying to compete with people who already know all the stuff you have to catch up with is.

Apart from running shittily on my available Windows machines, nomltest was fine. All the choices for this week are terrible for a tournament, though.

I disagree. I'm prepared to rock face when [UO POKO] wins.

Because I hate to say it, but it will.

So? Do we like shooting games or not? Well, I guess I don't know your particular sub-genre of interest, so you can take that point.

Seriously. Just look at that screenshot. There is a giant plant thing fighting a group of biker girls. Just look at it.

Final Thought: Your a fuckhead if you don't want to play this game.

Oh right. STG's. Uh yeah, ... shooting stuff is pretty cool.

Trains in level two, all of level three on rails including a train boss, trains on level four all over the shop, and probably some in level five I'm too busy to notice (are mine carts on wires trains?)...

The true trainspotter hangs out with binoculars at the platform from which Progear departs!

Macaw is my hero. I am now ashamed I didn't try harder in his tournament (maybe if he had Battle Circuit I would have).

BTW, Macaw, do you have any idea how the arcadia record holder got over 50 million points (with Yellow Beast and Pink Ostrich)? I don't know of a spot where you can milk coins for that long. :? My best is Nearly 24 million with Yellow Beast/Iris and I know I can get around 30 million.

Oh yeah, shootin' things.

I totally agree with what you're saying, but it would be damn tricky to find games in which nobody had an experiential advantage.

Unless there are a load of titles where none of us know the system, or ones where time spent playing has little effect on score. I guess easy shooters might fit that bill.

Or perhaps I missed the point in classic spadgy style...

What!!? I love that OST. I could listen to that crazy ship select music all day on repeat! Each to their own I guess...

I agree with Macaw, all the best tourneys end with Battle Circuit. :D

Who cares about Battle Circuit, just look at this:

Image

It's a motherfuckin' mech with a motherfuckin' laser cannon on its shoulder fighting underwater against a motherfuckin' mech octopus!

It only gets more awesome afterwards! You can drill your opponents, grapple and smash them on the ground, blow them up with missiles, or cut them in half with a motherfuckin' laser sword! You're a retard if you don't want to play this!

Screw STGT, go play motherfuckin' Armored Warriors!

Yeah its a mystery to me too. Wouldn't have a clue where all those extra coins are comin from (unless its not from the coin bonus, but rather some kind of scoring glitch in a stage or something)

No, the score is from the coin bonus. According to arcadia the guy has around 10k coins and zero lives when he finishes the game, implying that he milked a spot for a lot of coins. I can get around 5k coins if I don't don't buy anything and milk most enemies to death, but I really can't think of a spot that gives you 5k after milking it.

My two theories for such spots are at the 4th stage midboss (the black robot), and at the end of the 6th stage (either against the mecha greaser or against the boss)
