You can clear it in 30 mins and it doesn't have any replay value because you have infinite continues to make up for the impossible difficulty. Only 6 stages. It's in 2D with graphics from 15 years ago, it's super-retro. It's retro and too hard. Ikaruga is better. In fact, Ikaruga is the last 'schmukmup' that came out. There are not other shooters anymore. These are all older than Ikaruga. Shooters are FPS. This is not a shooter. I want a jRPG with 40 hours cutscenes.
4/10 =("
You forgot one important thing: The visible play-area is tiny, there are thick bars on the left and right and is has no widescreen mode.
Also the achievements are impossible as one reads: Clear the game on one credit.
WTB: Arkanoid II Revenge Of Doh PCB, Outzone PCB, Fixeight PCB

Argh, someone tell these guys the slowdown is part of the game
Simulating arcade hardware slowdown is not an easy task, I don't envy them at all. There are so many variables to take into account. To have it all misjudged as sloppy programming must be pretty annoying.
I'm gonna try to remain hopeful and read the guy's response as something more general (i.e. "yes, we're fixing the graphical glitches and other PCB bugs") rather than specifically "yes, we're removing the 'annoying' slowdown".
Unless JAPJAC decides to enlighten us, we don't know who that interview was conducted with. 99% of 5pb's content consists of dating sims—so it's possible that the TGS rep interviewed was a random marketing dude who knows fuck-all about the technical issues involved in two very off-genre ports.
5pb: “Unfortunately no. We are of course aware of fans of Ketsui outside of Japan but at this time the users and market in places such as England are not ready for this game.”
No surprise that the market isn't there but that I'm not ready for their Ubergame I didn't know. Maybe emulation makes me "ready"? Back to Dangun then...
he sounds like he's just giving stock answers just to keep from divulging anything he isn't supposed to. by winter 2009 release do you think he means january/february or november/december? sadly, i'm thinking it's probably the latter.

To not even try is WAY more annoying.

Knowing JAPJAC, it was likely one of the booth bitches.

Awesome interview dood! Too bad it's region locked though.. I guess applying common sense to the Japanese just doesn't work. "Hmm.. our game won't ever get released in other territories anyway.. I know, let's region lock it!"

Can't think of any arcade ports that don't even try ..

Going back to JAPJAC's interview, I'm going to have to agree with one of the guys over on Cave-STG. I think the guy was responding more to the graphical corruption comment (of which Ketsui does suffer from in the departments of SH2 graphical-noise during massive amounts of bonus items and even frame dropping).
As for it taking a year to prepare... should we assume that 5pb are actually going to take the time to do a high-res mode (like what they wanted to do with DDP DOJ BLX)? I would figure that at this point, they probably wouldn't have access to the original pre-render files so they'd have to pull a Digital Eclipse and trace-over every sprite frame at a higher res.
When you played it JAPJAC, was it on an LCD/Plasma screen? Did it look like true lo-res? Did it look like it had a filter over the graphics (like the PS2 port of Ibara)? Where there simulated scanlines? I think people are jumping the gun with the slowdown issue. It's entirely possible that there will be an option present to simulate that 'feature'.
I'M too lazy to get another account for a message board I'll never ever visit again in my life. Would anybody be so kind as to c/p all the relevant stuff?
